HBL and Hot Shots Golf (not greatest hits)
HBL and Hot Shots Golf (not greatest hits)
I apologize if this kind of question is annoying, or this is the wrong place to post it, but I'm curious as to whether there was any progress on getting HBL to work with Hot Shots Golf (US) the original, not greatest hits version. I'm one of the unfortunate ones who bought the game used, but got an original copy which doesn't yet work with HBL. I saw an earlier post on wololo.net where someone had offered to donate a copy to be worked with, but haven't heard anything since. I'm patient, but I wonder if I should just go ahead and consider looking for a cheap copy of the greatest hits version sometime.

If it was fixed we would be on a new revision instead of being still at r101. Also you don't need a psp to enjoy Wagic it comes with versions for Windows and for Linux in the same download.

Ya. Try out HBL Rev 101 and see if that fixes the problem. If not, just wait a little longer, maybe till next revision or so, till you buy the greatest hits edition.
Oh ya, Wagic is available for the PC.

Re: HBL and Hot Shots Golf (not greatest hits)
the "non greatest hits" version is stil work in progress. I was contacted by someone who was willing to send me their copy, but didn't follow up, so I still don't have the game.
The best I can recommend you for now is to send me your "non greatest hits" copy and buy a "greatest hits" version. This would both help me and you.
There are also other games that could potentially run HBL better, such as the sequel (hot shots golf 2), but I don't want to give any date for that.

If you need US PSN Codes, this technique is what I recommend.

Re: HBL and Hot Shots Golf (not greatest hits)
I would send Wololo my copy of HSG (provided I get it back eventually) but I think shipping to Japan is too expensive. I've never shipped anything half way across the world and don't know what it would cost.

Re: HBL and Hot Shots Golf (not greatest hits)
Just one precision regarding this: any offer is appreciated but I won't do anything that costs me money on top of costing me time. If somebody send me their copy of HSG, I expect it to be a donation, with the cost 100% on the donator's side.Organized_Chaos wrote:I would send Wololo my copy of HSG (provided I get it back eventually)
It's not that I'm greedy or anything, but I don't think I should be paying when I'm the one doing the work. I'm willing to work for free on HBL for other people, but I'm not yet ready to pay to work
There are people in the world with enough money to not care about the cost of the game + the shipping costs to Japan. It's that kind of people I'm expecting to get the game from. If you are not ready to give away your game and pay for the shipping costs (which I perfectly understand!), don't bother

Re: HBL and Hot Shots Golf (not greatest hits)
Would it be helpful if I could get PSPlink working on my PSP, then just send you the reports of what's happening when I try to load the current revision of HBL?
If I get a job soon, I'll gladly give you my copy of the exploit. Right now I have trouble getting enough money to pay for gasoline just to drive to school everyday.

Re: HBL and Hot Shots Golf (not greatest hits)
If you have a PSP with custom firmware where you can run the game on this would surely be helpful.
Crafting a savegame should not be a big deal, it would just require you to run the game with a savegame from which we can see where the crash happens. You can then report the exception info PSPLink shows and upload a memory dump from after the crash (with "savemem 0x08800000 0x01800000 memdump.bin" in PSPLink). This gives the functions for the SDK, the position of the loaded savegame and the position where the value for $ra has to be placed into the savegame. Should be enough I think. Once the exploit works it is only a matter of porting the memory dumper and having it run on a 6.xx PSP for the stub addresses on those firmware versions.

Re: HBL and Hot Shots Golf (not greatest hits)
Could someone give me a link to a tutorial on how to properly set up PSP link for a PSP-2001, TA-085v1 motherboard, 5.50 GEN (or 5.00 M33 if needed)?
I followed Skyend's tutorial on PSPSlimHacks and I've followed a 'tutorial' on Lan.st but both results ended with my PSP not doing anything at all and Windows would just keep making a noise as if I was plugging in a USB device, then unplugging it, then plugging it in, then unplugging it... it would keep doing that until I physically unplugged it. This was on Windows 7. I would prefer if I could do this with Ubuntu 10.10 instead of Windows - if it's possible. I also have access to Windows XP but that computer is slow and old.
I'm thinking maybe I need a special version of PSPlink to use on the slim? I read that somewhere but the person who said it made it sound like it would be impossible to find said version so I didn't even try looking. I'll start looking now I guess
(I hope this hasn't gone off topic much. I remember on AdvancePSP.tk just going slightly off topic caused the thread to be locked, but this all pertains to getting HBL working on HSG.)
