PS Vita 1000 : Blue dot on screen ? Dead pixel maybe ?

Post by Gav »

Hi

I have a Vita 1000 which I had for about 2 years.
Now I have a blue dot on the screen. I am assuming this is a dead pixel ?

I want to replace the screen and have seen some replacement screen on ebay. Is it a major job ? Has anyone replaced their screens before ? Is it a difficult job ? Is there a video on how to do this .... step by step ? I have see some tear down vids but it goes too indept and I am not looking to tear down just a screen replacement. Is there a simple vid that just does the screen replacement ?

Any help or advice will be appreciated

Thnks

I just bought two broken first generation PS Vitas on ebay, and one of them needed a new screen. I've done this kind of job before on much smaller hardware (iphones) so I wasn't afraid. It's a very easy, very straightforward process to replace the PS Vita screen. I believe in you, you just need a small phillips head screwdriver. If you do decide to do it, take care when removing the WiFi card, on both of my Vitas there was one screw holding the WiFi card that was very difficult to get out. I actually stripped one and had to drill it out with a drill press. If you sense that one is very stuck then you might want to try a different sized screwdriver before you strip it.

If you truly don't want to do it yourself, I'll do it for free if you pay for the shipping and obviously the screen.

But before you do anything of the sort, you may want to try some of these things: http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Stuck-Pixe ... CD-Monitor to make sure that it's dead and not just stuck. In place of the software method they mention, you could play this video full screen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjdrMuKpaCI

Awesome info . Thnx.
I have tried the Multi colour vids in the hope that it will kick the blue dot but it hasn't.
Don't think rubbing the screen etc will work as its OLED and not LCD ... but maybe im worng ?

1. Should I buy just the OLED like : http://www.ebay.com/itm/OLED-LCD-TFT-Sc ... 1334715426

2. Or is something like this : http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Playstation ... Swu4BVjq2d

Option 1 is cheaper but how hard is it to just replace the LED ?

Option 2 is much more expensive and probably easier as it had the OLED screen + touch

Cheers

I think the first option requires that you have a heat gun to melt the adhesive holding the screen to the face plate, and also you might need adhesive to stick the new one on too. I'm not positive though.

There may be an issue with the picture tube of the LED screen which doesn't produce the high content resolution options. I have also checked the https://gecey.com/ options that prepare the best quality LED screen for a better quality content play platform. Now you can get smart TV conversion options with the use of computer screens in an advanced way. I would say that you can get high-quality pixels with complete resolution as well.
