3d printing Hori grip part

Post by yekrep »

I lost the latch to my Hori brand PSVita grip while out of state. The grip has been discontinued it would cost me at least $130 to replace. The manufacturer won't sell me a replacement part. Could anyone help me to 3d print a new part? I believe there is an iphone app called captivate that can scan an object to a 3d model. I have a local friend a 3d printer, I only need the model.

This is the grip in question:

It looks fantastic!
I still just dabble in 3D modelling on occasion, hoping to improve my skills (and eventually get a 3D printer at printer how to print my stuff)
Do you work as a 3D modeler for a living? Or is it just a pastime? How long did it take you to make this model? What kind of software do you use?
