Custom or original set ideas

Post by fibertek »

So after testing the waters with my FF set (which I still do not consider "complete".. and will be appending at some point, I decided I want to keep going as Mr. Wololo there has made it extremely simple to do so. What I am looking for is any ideas any of ya'll have. I was tinkering with going even further into sci-fi fantasy by considering star trek vehicles with equipment as enchantments and tactic-related things as instants and sorceries (YES I used to play ST:CCG back during the 1st edition days... have many complete sets). Then I was considering my favorite VG franchise Dragon Quest. My question is what would you all like to see happen? (remember.. limitations on the engine that wololo has pointed out will be resolve eventually, but for now .. try and stick with whats possible we can add later)

I have dreams of a complete Star wars mod: new pictures, new sounds, and of course new cards :D

a star wars theme set would be cool... we could also attempt a Super hero/comic book theme set. A warhammer 40k would be cool too. the ideas are really limitless, just find a theme steeped with a long run. much less some themes have their own CCG that we can boorow ideas from to make cards. if you do a seinfeld set that would been weird; who could win? (bad joke)

an Anime-based custom set would be cool

for example based on Bleach with 4th divsion/humans/Quincy (white mana), Vizard/Holows/Arancar (black mana), scientists (Kurotshuchi Mayuri,...)/modified souls/ice-zanpakutou-user (blue mana), brute-force captians/creatures (Kenpachi, Jidanbou,.. green mana) and fire-zanpakutou-user/Special Ops (red mana)
Kidou-spells as enchantments (way of binding) and instants/sorceries (way of destruction) and weapons/technical devices as artifacts

Star Wars looks like the first thing on the list then :) .. It would have to either broken up in two sets one for characters one for vehicles OR the characters are going to be mildly underpowered and the vehicles would be overpowered.. suggestions? .. and I like the Anime idea.. but I don't personally watch Bleach so I couldn'y say how that would work out.. if somebody makes the card images in MSE I could attempt to code then into WTH

I second the anime stuff, though I'd rather see Saiyuki or Hellsing (First is basically a Japanese version of the Chinese 'Journey to the West' myth and Hellsing is an interesting Vampire anime). I may try it myself if I decide to take a break on the custom set - imagewise I've been making on MSE. Hadn't considered it for WTH, but it might be interesting to try.

bleach has it's own tcg (i have some of the cards), but it does play similar to mtg in some manners, so it may be possible to "port" cards from bleach's tcg into mtg format, on another note i was thinking that if we start making sets for anime/games, we need to make them so that way there will be plenty of choices, after all mtg blocks are always at least 2 sets to make sure there is enough variety, so besides of thinking of just how they would look or what they are, we need to think also how will they play, because after all don't want any of the customs sets we make to end up like "eye candy"

Haven't released the update yet cuz I'm stil working on it but the FF7 set I released is recieving a *major* overhaul -- it is now and FF6/FF7 set and as part of it I decided to have fun with some nice foil overlays and it includes a few "promos" as it were, for the FFIX/FFX set I intend to make next .. trying to keep it in a "block" so its not just "yea FF7 is cool!" .. figured I'd attempt to make it more functional than that
