For those of us who want the ultimate retro gaming experience, there’s the Hyperkin RetroN 5. For the rest of us, the Sony Playstation Portable is one of the best machines of its generation when it comes to emulation. Its little sister, the PS Vita, has the same benefits thanks to VHBL and TN-V. NES, GBA, SNES, If you can think of an older generation console, the PSP and the Vita have it.
On this page, we provide download links for all emulators that run on the Sony Playstation Portable & the PS Vita.
Looking for the best PSP emulator? Then you actually want to check our PSP emulator page!
Looking for a Vita emulator? Here again, you want to check our PS Vita emulator page for the latest information on that topic!

The emulators below are compatible with both the PSP and the PS Vita (through its PSP emulator). We have another page for Native PS Vita emulators (compatible with PS Vita only) running through the HENkaku hack.

1. What you need
A variety of emulators exist for the Playstation Portable and the Sony PS Vita. Explaining to you how to install and run them is not the main goal of this article, but you will need to get your console ready first. Check the explanations below:
- If you want to run emulators on your PSP, you will in general need to run a Custom Firmware on your PSP. Installing a Custom Firmware on your PSP is a 5 minutes riskless procedure, and we explain how to do it here.
- If you want to run emulators on your Vita, you will need to run a custom Firmware or VHBL. The procedure to achieve that is described here . You will also need to use one of the scene’s mods of the content manager assistant, in order to copy files to your Vita.
2. Emulators Downloads
The links below are download links for emulators that will run on the PSP and the PS Vita. However, we do not provide any links to “roms”. Additionally, a few emulators require a “bios” file which we cannot distribute for legal reasons. You have to provide your own. Details on how to install those emulators and additional help can be found below.
The download links below are kept up to date regularly in order to guarantee we provide the latest and greatest version of each emulator. When several options are possible, we added alternatives in parenthesis. But if you find better, please let us know!

3. Need More?
Vita owners: If the downloads above don’t work for you, check the following threads for packages of these emulators ready to use “out of the box” on TN-V or VHBL.
Thanks go to Dragon Chan for his “PSP emulators Bible” (and to kakarotto who helped him)
Looking for emulators running on other platforms? Check our emulators page.
That’S really cool article !!!. Love how the vita and psp scene ar ONE and united.
I’m getting a psp go but i dont just want nintendo emulators. I’m looking for a psp emulator on the psp so i can have psp games for free. Is there any?
You don’t need an emulator to play PSP games, as long as your PSP is hacked, just download the ISO file and put it on your memory stick and run it. No need for an emulator.
seriously. You’re ***.
Just download a PSP game ISO and put it in a folder called ISO in the root directory of your Memory Stick, and it appears in the GAME directory on your PSP.
Seriously. You’re an idiot. You even used “youre” in your “name,” albeit without the apostrophe. Your=something that belongs to you; possessive. You’re=you are; a contraction, meaning a shortened combination of two words.
Actually ‘You’re’ is possessive also.
Proper use of contracted words are used in possessive terms, with an exception of a few words.
In all, Noyou’reanidiot.
Spend your days looking for some thing better to do, because looks like being an *** isn’t working out for you.
You’re the idiot 🙂
http://www.wikihow.com/Use-You're-and-Your
You, dear sir, are a first-degree idiot. Either that, or you are Xzibit.
YOU ARE ALL IDIOTS
problem solved.
are you f***ing serious? i HATE it. the vtia has been out for like 3 years, and theres still no wireless native exploit. the psp scene and vhbl just give the entire community an excuse to be contect with a hacked psp emulator on the vita, rahter than an actual hacked vita. does anyone understand what we could do with a nice piece of hardware like the vita once the restrictions are lifted? theres so much *** it could do. so *** your statement
Useful way to navigate the available emulators, thanks!
You should add NJ’s emulators and mods.
They are very nice!
Do you have links?
doperoms
The link is here:

Great compendium. Can you add PC88 and PC98 to the Computers list?
There are more emulators than this. I saw a pokemini emulator somewhere that I used for a while.
Ah! Apparently it is possible to play DS games on the PSP/PS Vita, but the emulator is extremely laggy. What a shame!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kM9l_sr3D_o
Still, this is better than nothing. Anyway, thanks for the comprehensive list, wololo.
EDIT: oh wait, disregard that last video! The guy was streaming his desktop to his computer… but my point about it being laggy (even through an emulator on your Vita itself) still stands. Also, no touch-screen support because you’d be using the DSONPSP emulator. :/ Oh well. I was really looking forward to playing White 2 or Black 2 on my Vita, because I love the Pokemon series so.
I found the backup for RPG Maker 2000/2003 emulator. You put the game in the same folder as the emulator (games: http://rpgmaker.net/games/?engine=5&status=&rating=&commercial=&sort=&portal=None). The build I have is early and very limited from 2011. No battles etc. I think the images needed to be converted for PSP size too. I am not sure where the development of EasyRPG is today. I only know that the PSP build is broken until someone with the right skills is able to fix it. I remember looking into it, but couldn’t get it to compile.
Anyway here is build for r1228: http://www.mediafire.com/download/u2yyceq4c01opde/easyrpg_r1228_psp.7z
It’s basically dead. I’ve a subscription to their RSS, it’s updated once in a half-year and they dropped support of minor platforms some time ago.
thanks to everyone out there that made this possible.
Capcom (CPS1PSP, CPS2PSP) emulators are also missing. Cadillacs and Dinosaurs forever 🙂
I have a old version (i think fat psp), not work in psp3000 model, but if you need i up then. (sorry i’m brazilian)
An all-in-one installer with a emulator selection menu would be nice 😉
I’ve had one of these ages ago, probably somewhere in 2012, but I guess those emulators are all out of date.
Isn’t the Magnavox 1st gen? Or is this the Magnavox Odyssey2?
This is a great list and the most useful article I have seen with links for PSP EMUs.
What sickens me though is how awesome the Vita would be if we could truly get it ‘unlocked’ and use it in the way we have used the PSP for all these years. eCFW is awesome and what TN has done is impressive but we are still getting a PSP emulator which restricts the real power of the unit.
I am sure we will get it in the not too distant future as Vita is only 2 years old so by the expected curve within the next 12-24months it will get hacked……Here is hoping.
Since dsonpsp was mentioned in the article schould not the psp port of yabause (saturn emulation) also be noted?
i doubt it also went higher than the experimental phase as well though
PSX still has no sound though, correct? 🙁
Yes it does have sound T_T Just remember to have the sound volume up?
Cann´t see why my Psp emulator list isn´t “ultimate” at last on Psp :P. Sure Karaotto and Dragon Chan Playstion emulator introduce is very unique 😛
Whatever a lot work done on Smokes vita lists.
And now by you with bringing them to your blog, adding mirror etc.
Atm most missing stuff – rewind mods which were not to easy to find and
PspKvm!!
The only emu not in my list is Castaway emulator^^ not sure why i don´t have it.. cann´t run it ..i guess!
Stella and emuODD i have to give those 3 a retry …RpgMaker mh^^^^^
Thanks help completing lists 🙂
I saw the Stella emulator download is corrupt as most of this version links around the web^^.
a working file but for me it´s not working even with eloader maybe one can run it (leda/vita or lower fw).
I found more ~defect archiv both colem emus and emuodd hosted via wololo.net
Added a lot links to fix broken homebrew downloads but still not updated at wololo.net/downloads…
If someone search the castaway or else you can find them by click my blue name or at /talk homebrew list. ..seems like noone care^^
Hello everyone, I really want this but what I need to know is: are there going to come newer exploit games on the 3.01 version or later.
(can you redownload 101 in one megamix) i downloaded it before but I removed it.
Pls answer!
so does the n64 daedalus emulator work 100 percent full speed for the ps vita or what ? or is it atleast better than the last one used on the psp atleast.
What’s the computer on the most upper screenshot?
This is great. Thanks for taking the time to compile this.
You missed one the list of computers the 16-bit retro emulator for the TI99/4a
PSPTI99 : A TI-99/4 Emulator for PSP v1.0.3
Source: http://zx81.zx81.free.fr/serendipity/index.php?/categories/62-TI-99
Neat thing if you have older PSP model with IR port and IR keyboard you can use it just like it was an actual computer, the emulator works very well and covers most of common of basic stock hardware, I used it for years on my PSP, but sadly now I am running a V9T9 with DosBox Turbo on my Android tablet using a mini-usb keyboard now.
This will help with downloading roms for any emulator directly on PSP/PSVita
still no update on nds emulator for psvita?
Most of them don’t work.
I am only here for the Corpse Party: Blood Drive
i always had a data is corrupted why 🙁 om my psp
how do i get the ds emulator working on v.2.02 using uno
WHAT IS THE GAME IN THE SECOND SCREENSHOT OF THE PAGE(Second generation consoles 1970s)????? PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME HAVE PLAYED THIS GAME AT ONCE IN MY WHOLE LIFE!!!
Collecovision’s “Congo Bongo”
You are very welcome. It only took a google image search and sifting through the results.
It’s awesome to go to see this web page and reading the views of all friends regrding this paragraph,
while I am also eager of getting familiarity.
