Bugs 0.8.1

This is the list of bugs known in current version 0.8.1. Please post your feedback here. If you find a bug, please explain the exact steps to reproduce it.

Important

There has been several reports of the game crashing at startup. If you have such an issue, please go to the following thread to get solutions to your problem.

General problems

  • Mulligan is not implemented
  • Exalted should be a triggered ability
  • double strike: a creature with double strike that has been blocked shouldn’t be able to assign its “second” damage to a player, unless it has trample
  • retrace is not implemented
  • Graveyard display does not update when a card is removed from it through a spell (regrowth, raise dead…)
  • Graveyard “flames” effect is messed up
  • When too much cards are in play, some of them are difficult to reach/see
  • Attack : if the blocked creature isn’t currently attacking anything (e.g. all blocking creatures are destroyed), it should assign no combat damage.
  • Parser: when using card like: auto=target(creature[blocking]) 4/4 you can make you creature into “block mode” gives it +4/+4, then remove it from combat.
  • Options: Audio volume is either 0 or 100%, other values actually put the volume at 100%
  • creatures revived from the graveyard with a “target=” – line can’t target anything
  • You can regenerate a creature that was killed with wither (-1/-1 counters)
  • Fear Two-colored creatures can block as if were black or artifact (even if black isn’t one of the colors)
  • Control effects such as control magic shouldn’t give haste to the creature
  • Control effects such as control magic shouldn’t trigger “comes into play” abilities
  • Lands shouldn’t use the stack
  • Lifelink doesn’t work correctly with creatures that have Wither
  • Auras/effects that add an ability/remove it don’t correctly stack. For example, casting Pacifism on a blind spot giant, then having a giant coming into play will not have the expected result. Another example is if you have two globlin kings in play and one gets killed: some goblins will not have mountainwalk anymore.
  • Wagic 0.8.1 crashes when the AI tries to use the “Fizzle” ability  (for example:  Glen Elendra Archmage (EVE))

specific cards problems

  • Act of Treason (M10) The creature does not untap when it comes to your control.
  • Ancient Den requires the line “auto={T}:Add{W}” to work properly
  • Akroma’s Memorial (FUT) has the wrong card name
  • aura mutation – won’t target enchantments for destroying
  • Beacon of Immortality can have you lose the game if you use it too much
  • Befoul does not work correctly
  • Bogardan Rager‘s ability doesn’t wear off at the end of the turn
  • Brass Man: trying to “untap” brass man with no mana and outside of the upkeep phase crashes the game.
  • Cage of Hands (CHK) The “can’t attack or block” clause works, however, when trying to use the ” Return Cage of Hands to its owner’s hand.” ability, both Cage of Hands and the enchanted creature vanish.
  • Channel : Works but needs to be “used” from graveyard
  • Clone cannot copy creatures with shroud
  • Creakwood Liege, Deathbringer Liege, Mindwrack Liege etc all seem to have the abilities to give all creatures the +1/+1, even creatues on the other side/my opponents creatures.
  • Crystal Rod : Weird behavior
  • Dauntless Escort‘s ability causes its controller’s creatures to be permanently indestructible, not just until end of turn.
  • disrupting scepter (artifact) does not cast properly. when cast it activates ability (target player discards a card). when activating ability after casting it; does not allow for target. does very briefly display “red rectangle”. does not use mana from manapool
  • Drain life can use non black mana
  • Emberstrike Duo (SHM) has a wrong color specification in its effects.
  • Emblem of the Warmind” (FUT) has a weird behavior, does not target the correct creatures, and tends to crash the game
  • Farhaven Elf‘s ability doesn’t tap correctly
  • Fastbond doesn’t work properly. You can’t put in play more than one land in the turn it comes to play.Then in the next turn it’s works fine!!!!
  • Glasses of Urza : can be put in play but don’t do anything when activated
  • Hypnotic Specter (M10) doesn’t fly due a mispelling on the “abilities” word
  • Instill Energy: Can be cast, but does nothing to target
  • Kindle (TMP) can’t target the player
  • Kjeldoram frostbeast(ICE) does not destroy any creature blocking/blocked by it at the end of combat
  • Knight of the Reliquary” (CFX)? The ability reads “Sacrifice a Forest or Plains: Search your library for a land card, put it into play, then shuffle your library.” When I activate it, I can pick a card from my library, and the game then asks me which card I want to sacrifice – but all my forests are blacked out, and I cannot choose a card. Am I missing something, or is this a bug?
  • Kobolds with a cost of 0 (Crimson Kobolds and Crookshank Kobolds) are not considered as red creatures
  • Kudzu: I tapped a land on which the AI had cast Kudzu (RV) twice. The first Kudzu resolved without problem (as Kudzu did in all my previous tests), but resolving the second Kudzu crashed the game. I guess that the game tried to put the respective land to the graveyard again, not realizing that it had just done this when the first Kudzu resolved.
  • Liability with Laquatus (millling 3) deals damage to the opponent
  • Living artifact gives you one life whenever a card is tapped.
  • Master Decoy (TMP) reported not to tap artifact creatures
  • Mobile Fort does’nt get it’s supposedly +3 /-1
  • Onslaught fetchlands (ONS): (Bloodstained Mire, Flooded Strand, Polluted Delta, Windswept Heath, Wooded Foothills): The “Pay 1 life” part does not work, and it does not shuffle the library.
  • Orcish Artillery,Orcish Cannoneers doesn’t tap when used.
  • power surge (red enchantment) may still deal damage for lands no longer in play (for example after Amageddon).
  • Prowess of the Fair takes effect even though the elf is discarded from the hand. Should it really work this way?
  • Relentless rats (m10) is 3/3 instead of 2/2
  • seedcradle Witch’s ability doesn’t work
  • Selesnya Guildmage’s abilities don’t wear off at the end of a turn. Also applies to leonin sun standard, Sunscape Master, Cylian Sunslinger...
  • Siege-Gang Commander‘s ability has a weird flow if you want to target a player.
  • Skeleton Ship(ICE)’s ability can’t be used.it keeps untapping while declare it as attacker.
  • Soul Net: cannot use during opponent’s turn because the game doesn’t offer to interrupt
  • Casting “spirit link” on an opponent’s creature causes the opponent to gain life rather than me.
  • Stun Sniper (ARB) It does not deal damage to the creature
  • Terramorphic Epanse reported to crash the game when used by the AI
  • unstable mutation (blue enchantment) counters do not stay on creature after enchantment is removed/destroyed
  • Vampiric Link, a black version of Spirit Link, which is supposed to be an Enchant Creature (Says Enchant – Aura) is acting like a global enchantment, instead of a creature enchantment
  • Unstable mutation doesn’t give +3/+3
  • UNTAMED WILDS crashes the game
  • Urborg has a wrong name (Tolaria)
  • Walking Wall : can’t attack even after activating its ability
  • Windswept Heath reported to crash the game

Other reports:

  • I attacked the AI with a wilt – leaf cavaliers pumped with might of oaks, and it blocked with a wall of bone juiced with bad moon. It tapped black to regenerate the wall (which was enchanted with my psychic venom) and lost 2 life. the wall never regenerated and the mana burned the AI. After the damage resolved The game went on to the AI’s untap phase and crashed the psp.
  • I attacked with Elvish Berserker (1/1, +1/1 for each creature blocking it). I was blocked by a 1/1 first strike creature. The enemy had no other cards on the table – other than 2 basic lands, I had none other than 3 basic lands. Now, my intuition tells me that the first strike damage can’t take place until blockers have been declared, leading me to believe that my Berserker should be 2/2 by the time first strike damage hits, and I should win. However, my Berserker was killed and the first strike creature was left alive.

In grey : Bugs that should be fixed in next release

In blue:Bugs that couldn’t be reproduced in current development version. It could mean that another bugfix fixed them without us noticing it, or the bug never existed, or the bug is a side effect of something else that cannot be tested easily. In that case, if you have that bug and know a way to reproduce it, please shout 🙂

    It seems that the game crashes whenever I go into the store after a battle. The exact procedure is as follows: start the game, play a battle, finish it (either by winning, losing, or quitting; all do it), and then pressing O when the Store icon is highlighted on the main menu. It causes the PSP to restart afterwards.

    A few more card bugs:

    -Essence Drain only works on creatures; if cast on a player, no life is reduced or gained on either side.

    -Highway Robber also doesn’t affect life totals when coming into play.

    -Crown of Flames doesn’t equip to creatures.

    -Spitting Earth doesn’t work. No damage is dealt, regardless of the number of mountains controlled.

    -Lightening Helix doesn’t work either. No life is lost or gained and no damage is dealt to creatures; basically, it is ineffective.

    Thanks a lot for the reports, Peter.
    I personally tested Spitting Earth and had no problem with it, so it is probably a small error for a given expansion. Would you know the expansion by any chance?

    Spitting Earth, to the best of my knowledge, is from the Tenth Edition Core Set (according to the card picture).

    Also, another thing that I found was for Vampire Bats doesn’t have a limit as to how many times you can use its /S/: +1/+1 ability, and I think that is also from the Tenth Edition.

    All of these reports are actually from my brother who has been playing it nonstop for the last two days. And thanks for making such a great PSP homebrew. 🙂

    All of the Liege (Creakwood Liege, etc) cards in Shadowmoor and Eventide are supposed to give other creatures YOU control +1/+1 if they are a certain colour.

    The problem is that they give the enemy creatures the bonus as well.

    In 0.8.1 sometimes the enemy blocks 1 creature with 2 creatures. Last time it said assign blockers and then hit square, I accidentally hit circle. The game got caught in an infinite loop where it was wiggling the blockers back and forth. There were no buttons I could push to get out, so I had to quit back to main menu.

    0.8.1 Deathbringer Liege’s tap/destroy abilities are only working when the Liege is summoned, not when casting subsequent black or white spells.

    overeager apprentice (ODY) ability does not work correctly. does not add BBB to manapool after sacrifice and discard. (i am selecting sacrifice, open hand, select card to discard (both actions occur), BBB is not added to manapool) The way the card has it worded is opposite of this process, but i have not looked at cards.dat to see if coded in this manner.

    Twitch (10E) only allows untap. does not allow tap option.

    Bogarden rager (TimeSpiral) does not allow assignment of +4/+0 to target creature

    p.s. after spending the day moving files/reformatting ms/flashing different f/w source; i load wth almost 100%. however i am having random crashes in program (load shop, deck editor, in game, victory screen)

    As far as my perosnal experience with this AWESOME homebrew goes (the hb ever, really), trying to untap Mana Vault outside of the untap phase (i.e.: during the draw phase) crashes the game – prolly related to the Brass Man issue reported in the official buglist.

    in 0.81 Leonin Sun Standard ability does not end at end of turn, instead permanetly gives units 1+/1+

    Hi! Great work on this project so far. I’m having great fun playing it. Found a few minor problems though:

    1. Reckless One should have haste.
    2. When in the shop, the card “Akroma’s Memorial” is displayed as having the name “136150”

    This last one is kinda major though since it can be used for ‘cheating’:
    If you make a deck with zero cards, and you use it in Evil Twin mode, you will automatically win and get credits.

    😛 I think I’ve found another card error. I tapped 1 Swamp for the card “Skeleton Shard” and it wouldn’t tap to use its effect.

    i just noticed that into the legend block the Legendary Land Urborg is displayed as having the name “Tolaria”. it’s still Urborg.

    Im having a problem where after my phases it takes a long time for it to load up the next phase. Also when I reach the blocker phase it wont let me do anything, the phase name is in gray but I can still press start and leave the game. I havnt tried removing the sound files yet or the irshell but ill re-post if that works.

    sometimes when i start a duel my damage is at 19 or 18 not the standard 20 and it hasent even been the other oponents turn. weird

    Sometimes when I want to cast fireball, I will tap my lands for mana, then click on fireball, and fireball will just fizzle and I will not get a chance to select a creature or player nor can I assign the damage to any creatures/player. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Anybody else have this problem?

    I posted this on the board but I thought it might be good to post it here too. The game has been working great for me except when playing momir every time it goes into order of blockers and press square to continue it freezes. I don’t know if it matters but I’m running the game on a psp-1000 with custom firmware 5.00m33-5. It use to crash like this in the regular game until I removed track0 and track1.

    Hello I can’t seem to target a player using Fireball. I can successfully destroy creatures with it though. Am I not just doing it correctly or is it a bug? Thanks for this project. I really am enjoying this game despite the bugs. I have faith that you will be able to sort them all out. Cheers!

    I think there is no “graphical feedback” when you target a player but I believe it works. Have you tried the following: cast the fireball, click on the player, then click on the fireball? I’ll test again

    Enervate(ice age): seems to just resolve, doesn’t let you target, and i don’t think i got the cantrip the next upkeep.

    Thalakos Seer(tempest): has shadow, but opponent blocked it with non-shadow creatures

    *in my last post i meant moonglove extract(lorwyn).

    Playing on PSP I lost most of my cards. I could use them until I went into the deck editor whereupon I had a deck that previously consisted of 60+ cards become a 12 card deck.

    There might be a bug of course, but in some cases this behavior is normal:

    This can happen for example if you sold the cards that were in the Deck. Next time you go to your deck editor and open the deck, the Deck Editor checks that the deck is not “cheating” by using cards that are not actually in your collection. All cards that are in the deck but not in the collection will end up being erased.
