Great article man! I’ve lurked this site for years (since xbox 360 Lite touch days) and you’ve always had great informative, and especially to the meat and potatoes articles. Thats whats I appreciates about you! thanks for keepin on, you provide a great service for quick poignant write-ups too! Love the site Wolo4Eva!

The X5 has a pretty obvious advantage over the X3 that a testing session wouldn’t really show you – it has “forgetful” saving, where you can just play games like Shining in the Darkness, save normally, and then keep playing or shut down knowing that you did fine. The X3 requires you to save, then hit the Reset button on the system to lock that save in… It’s not that inconvenient per se, but it’s something you WILL forget one day that’ll make you lose progress. That alone makes the X5 a better choice for someone who’s using these carts as a serious library replacement.

Great review, however might I suggest that you edit the section comparing the respective features so they are in the same order, or alternatively just list the X5 as having all of the features of the X3 plus the stuff it offers in addition, i.e.:

    X3 Features:
Sega Genesis, Sega Mega Drive, Sega Master System, and 32X files supported.
Supports 99% of games from SEGA library.
    64mbit (8mbyte) PSRAM.
    56mbit (7mbyte) max ROM size.
    FAT32 file system supported.
Micro SD cards up to 32GB.
    Fast loading (2-4 sec).
Built in audio playback. GYM, TFC
    Regular game battery back-up saves.
    CD BIOS loading.
Cheats feature. Game Genie and Play-Action Replay format supported.

X5 Features everything the X3 does, as well as:
    128Kbyte Battery RAM
    Hardware MEGAKEY.
    CD RAM cart feature.
