I gotta say the steam deck can do way more than stated a lot of the specs/stuff can be upgraded and that with relativ easy and fast diys way. If you can build a PC you can upgrade lets say the ssd like i did on mine had the 64 or 256 gb version i dont remember and went for a 2tb ssd the one most recommended was for what ever reason(i think its funny actually) the cheapest too lol. The performance is just mwah like before just with 1,8TB of storage which is finally enough with a 500gb sd card and a 2tb flash for transfer from my or my bros pc. But not just that you can mod most of the stuff on a deck some easier than changing the ssd some maybe a bit more diffictult but nothing impossible or too hard making a pandora battery back to normal with only a lighter a needle and solder wire was harder than any mod for the steam deck.

plus what bothered me the most my deck plays bloodborne with 20-40 fps for now which is impressiv and shadps4(ps4 emu) is just v0.4.1

Slow day for news? This article seems pointless

  3. Some sort of rough estimated price points for each of the devices listed would have added a deeper context in describing what all the listed specifications compare to the investments that may have to be made in order to afford any of these suggestions.

alternative? lol vita emu still bad. theres no alternatives to vita.

but if you need anything for playing some any games, you can do it on your smartphone (ltbh anyone has smartphone) + gamepad like gamesir x3pro (best choice if your smartphone dont have cooler, but cheap alternatives ok too). even cheapest potato smartphones can give you all retro library minimum.

switch is not so cheap for many ppl (if not for you, yey! you are lucky!). steamdeck is for rich – not alternative at all. chinatoys – meh.. for 3yo kids is ok, but for formed soul absolutely not.

All Devices are able to work with the 1.5TB MicroSD Card, and highly likely the 2TB MicroSD that is out by SanDisk. Not sure why they are just saying the 512GB MicroSD.

What is the point of this article exactly? These really aren’t Vita Alternatives as they serve a different purpose and don’t properly play Vita games.

Rg35xx cant do gamecube or ps2, it doesnt even have the buttons for it

  9. Pol Valls says:

None of tose have PS Vita originals. They’re only power equivalents, but the compatibility with Vita games and emulators still not granted.

The Legion GO is not on this list and Switch is literally at the end of its life with the Ditch 2 being released by Nintendo soon.
I own and use a Steam deck and it it quite passable for a portable gaming system. I use emulators from psp, psone, ps2, ps3 (iffy), NES, SNES, N64, Switch, MAME, etc, etc. All work great, except the ps3 emulator, but it works well on a small handful of games.
Also have a few pc games like Spider-man, GTA IV, COD WWII, and a few others that work quite well.
I’m going with the Steamdeck cause of the price and how easy it is to crack open (which I have) and add more memory to it.
Although, I STILL play my psvita at least weekly…

Is this a joke? What an utterly pointless and insulting listicle. Sometimes you just have to say no to guest writers.

We want the PSV,not a high tech, extra priced Steam deck or Nintendo switch. The PSV is an alternative to all of these,it’s around 70€ on my country…

I would also like to nominate Anbernic RG ARC-D for SEGA enthusiasts out there. It has a 6 button layout like the Sega Genesis and Saturn plus two shoulder buttons and two digital triggers. It should run most consoles up to the Saturn plus some Dreamcast and PSP games with no problem and it costs around 80-90 USD.
