PS4/PS5 Remote Lua Loader (Artemis engine exploit) updates and releases

This is something I haven’t talked about on this blog, even though it is a somewhat promising avenue for future PS4/PS5 hacks (and has been confirmed to work up to PS5 Firmware 10.20 at least): Lua Loading capabilities via some vulnerabilities in the Artemis game engine.
What is Artemis engine and how is it used for PS4/PS5 hacks?
Some games on the PS4/PS5 were built with the Artemis game engine. This engine uses the Lua scripting language to load some of its files, and this can be leveraged via a good old savegame exploit. From gezine, the developer who initially reported the exploit:
Artemis is a cross-platform Visual Novel game engine that utilizes Lua script.
Windows / Android / iOS / Web / Nintendo Switch / Playstation are supported.
Most of Artemis games automatically load save9999.dat file when game boots.
By loading an edited save file, we can chain-load custom scripts from the save folder.
Game boots -> load savefile “save9999.dat” -> load iet script “inject.iet” -> load lua script “inject.lua”
This has been tested on Windows and PS4.
Pretty sure it will work on other platforms too.
The exploit was initially only running for game Raspberry cube, but has been ported to other Artemis engine based games:

In its current form, the exploit lets you load some simple lua scripts from within the exploited game. It is very likely that Lua running within a PS4 game on the console has limited access to the surrounding elements of the Firmware, but this could eventually be leveraged for future exploits. There is no question that this could become useful eventually, so people might want to buy and install some of the exploited games on their console asap. However…
Exploiting games on the PS4/PS5: modern issues

Crafting malicious savedata for your games isn’t as easy as it used to be. Savegames are now encrypted with your unique user ID, and can’t easily be shared with other users. The best way to craft a PS4 savegame that will work in particular on your PS5, is to created it on a hacked PS4. Alternatives such as PS4 Save Wizard exist (but that particular one is a product with a fee). Bottom line, in order to possibly hack your PS5 down the line, you need a hacked PS4 to begin with. Not an impossible requirement, but a hurdle nonetheless.
It’s also worth noting that the exploited games are all from the JP market and quite hard to find (in physical version). PSN versions exist for some games, in particular for the free demo of Hamidashi Creative but you’ll need a Japanese account on your PS4/PS5 (it’s not super hard to create, just an additional hurdle). A physical copy probably remains the safest method if your PS5 supports discs, since in general it won’t require to update beyond the game’s own requirement.

It might still be worth it and you might really want to go the extra mile to acquire one of these games sooner than later. (In particular if this is a digital copy of the game: you need to be on the latest firmware in order to buy and install the game, even if your plan is to -it should be – then let your console sit on that firmware for months).
It is also worth repeating that in order for all of this to work, you’ll need a legit copy of the game, installed and confirmed running on your PS4/PS5. I’ve seen a lot of people asking why they can’t do this with a “less legit” version of the game, later on. This is a chicken-egg scenario: if you wanted to run a pirated game on your console, you’d need a hacked console. Since the game is what is required to run the potential hack in the first place… you get the idea.
Artemis Engine Lua Loader release
With all of this context in mind, we have a new release of the Lua Remote Loader for PS4/PS5 by developer shahrilnet, confirmed working on PS5 Firmware up to 10.20 included.
This tool lets you exploit the 4 aforementioned games with a script that will install a loader listening on port 9026 and let you send lua files for it to run on the console:

Well cool maybe/probably will be usefull one day i mean even tho its just a limited and probably hardcore sandboxed scripting language just having it is a tool like a tiny stone in a glassprison not perfect but for sure not useless. Love such stuff no matter how insigficant something may seem even a tiny little hole in just the first layer of security may grow into big slit that can reach the core with the right magic words(exploit or exploit chains,some bypasses here and there maybe and of course the development of the envirenoment or mask if we talking stuff like cfw)
Props to the finder/dev/haxor well done as always especially the porting to different games having the same engine and exploitability like monster hunter savegame exploits back then i actually had the same idea back then but me setting up everything took longer than for the real hackers to exploit all of them and complete the whole pakage with cpspFW on vita i love those days.
The main caveat of this method is that regardless of having the disc drive console and the physical game, you still need to be on the latest PS5 firmware to be able to sign in to PSN to move the “magic” savedata from your hacked ps4 to your PS5

We already found the workaround. Do not need PSN activation to copy savefile.

So are you back now (please)? Really miss those 4-5 updates a week. An update every second week is tough to handle man 😛
I know… Wish I could say I’m back 100% but I find it hard to motivate myself these days…

Dont try doing it that way motivation isnt forced upon oneself that doesnt work actually does the opposite more frequently. To succeede i recommend forcing urself doing it like its a job or project of yours that got meaning from its completion/usage when done and able to be used. Meaning that motivation for article number 2,3…and so on will come from alone while you just have to force urself on baby steps doing and building/achiving the first one which will already grow ur motivation and ur interest when the steps stop being baby while still feeling like they are but suddenly you got way more way better stuff and the fun and motivation are already there like they never were vanished just couldnt be felt/seen!

Just dont think you lost the flow or that you wont be able to get back on tracks or anything negativ just see,feel and enjoy the good and great stuff cause thats what matters the fun the thankfulness of people like me who read ur block and get the best plentiful Information with source an eli5 kinda like explanation by a great mind like you.
Which just has no downsides like literally you are just hear teaching us about security,development,games,all people involved with all those fields and more and probably soooooooooooooooooo much more which i cant recall right now but i know there is more and all of it beeing at least good/usefull and more often than not way more than that.
So yeah keep up the great work if it still is fun or something else healthy and good for you even if you have to work urself to ur before standard no shame in that. Its really astonishing how long you already do this i respect you more than 90% of my teachers back then when i went to school.
