PPLGPwn: hack your PS4 with your TV
This might sound like a gimmick, but this is actually a very interesting release here by developers zauceee and llbranco: PPLGPwn is a port of the PS4 PPPwn exploit, designed to run the attack from a rooted LG Smart TV. It is based on the recent C++ port of the exploit, meaning it should run at good speeds. Developer Zauceee states the exploit takes about 20s (from boot!) on their LG TV.
What is PPLGPwn and why it’s relevant for hacking your PS4
PPPwn is the name of the latest and greatest PS4 Jailbreak, compatible with PS4 (up to) firmware 11.00, originally released in mid 2024 by TheFloW. PPPwn requires a computer to be connected to the PS4 via a LAN cable in order to run the attack. And the hack itself is quite CPU intensive. Furthermore, like most hacks released so far on the PS4, the PPPwn Jailbreak needs to be re-run every time you reboot the console or shut it down (the exploit stays active if you put the PS4 in rest mode, though)
This set of requirements is quite relevant, because it is not always practical for tinkerers to have a computer constantly connected to their PS4, for the purpose of running homebrew.
Similar requirements have always existed on the console, and in the past, alternate solutions using tiny devices such as the ESP32 have been leveraged. In this case, due to the heavy CPU + LAN connection requirements, device such as the ESP32 are a bit underpowered for the task.
But people have been providing other solutions such as porting the exploit to Raspberri Pis, and, in this case with PPLGPwn, to a smart TV.
Where this is extremely interesting (beyond the cool factor of saying your TV can hack your PS4) is that you already need the TV connected to your PS4. In other words, no need for a third device, you already have the computing power needed to run the hack, directly in the TV that is connected to your PS4. Clever!
Download and run PPLGPwn on your LG TV + PS4
In order to run this hack, you’ll need a rooted LG TV (it is interesting that you need to Jailbreak your TV in order for it to Jailbreak your PS4). There is a recent exploit named DejaVuln which was released in April 2024, so at this point it is likely that any LG TV is indeed rootable (the developer of DejaVuln warns against updating your firmware as recent firmwares are already patched. You might also want to avoid 2024- and above – TV models). You’ll need to check the specifics on that (check the tool’s readme).

Check the readme on the github link above for details on how to run on your TV
Mbcrump has a full tutorial video which I strongly recommend you watch, in particular if you’re still confused about the two LG TV exploits and which one you need to use (hint: most of you need to use DejaVuln, the recent one)

Interesting. I might do this once my LG TV stopped sending OTA updates. For now, sticking to 9.00.
this is a crazy exploit, very unique and interesting.
Would love to see a similar implementation for android TV
My ps4 crashes on waiting for stage1 to resume 🙁
Very cool though
Sounds great! Too bad I don’t have an LG smart TV here :/.
Totally not sponsored by lg btw
LOL yeah I wish they would pay us to hack their TVs 😛
I wish I was loll
These people are pure genius!
