PS5: Sleirsgoevy’s “kstuff” and FPKG (PS4) Support added to firmware 4.51! EtaHEN updated to support 4.51 as well

Thanks to work by Cheburek3000 to find the right offsets, PS5 Firmware 4.51 now joins the selective group of Firmwares able to run PS4 FPKG. As we all guessed by now, it’s only a matter of time before all hackable firmwares are supported by sleirsgoevy‘s Prosper0gdb and FPKG Enabler. Currently, Firmwares 4.03, 4.50, and now 4.51 are supported. I’m sure more will come.

The PS5 can now run PS4 Homebrew and PS4 game “backups”

Thanks to work by Sleirsgoevy over the past few weeks, PS4 fpkg support has been fully implemented on hacked PS5s.

The FPKG Enabler is now compatible with Firmwares 4.03, 4.50, and 4.5A, with more firmwares coming soon. Of course, by “more firmwares”, I mean any firmware between 3.00 and 4.51 included, as those are the hackable versions. (If you’re looking for a hackable PS5 model I have tips here)

LighningMods also recently released etaHEN, an all-in-one alternative that adds FPKG support, an FTP Server, blocks updates, and more. EtaHEN has already been updated to support Firmware 4.51. The developer also released a Homebrew store for the PS5 this week.

Should you update your PS5 to 4.xx?

As it’s becoming clear that more firmwares will be supported by this mechanism sometime soon, I personally wouldn’t recommend updating to 4.03/4.50/4.51 if you’re on a lower firmware (4.02 being the exception here, I don’t think you’re losing much by upgrading from 4.02 to 4.03).

For now, all FPKG Enabler would give you is the possibility to run PS4 game backups and homebrew, something that is already possible, and in better conditions, on a hacked PS4. This isn’t to say that this work isn’t a tremendous achievement, but I want everyone to be clear on what this achieves.

The PS5 does give a performance boost to most PS4 games, and FPKG support keeps getting better with new releases almost daily.

Download and run PS4 FPKG Enabler on PS5 4.03/4.50/4.51

As a reminder, you will need a PS5 running firmware 4.03/4.50/4.51 to run this payload. Support for more firmwares is on the way!

Easiest way: run etaHEN via pkg-zone

The easiest way is probably to simply point your PS5’s browser to https://pkg-zone.com/exploit/PS5/index.html (that’s lightningmod’s website which autoloads etaHEN).

Alternatives: grab the etaHEN payload, or build from source, then load from a host

Alternatively, you can download the etaHEN payload yourself, or if you want to go more hardcore, the kstuff source code can be found on Sleirsgoevy’s github (and this is the best way to always ensure you have the latest and greatest version). We have a guide on how to build PS5 payloads here.

Once the payload is acquired/built, you can use one of the many hosts available (such as zecoxao.github.io/ps5jb ) that will let you run the jailbreak and upload a payload to your console, or run a host yourself following one of these guides:
