Winners announced for Vita Homebrew contest FuHEN, you have to try these games!
A homebrew contest is always a lot of fun, and it’s awesome to see that FuHEN has fully delivered in fun and results! My personal thanks to the organizers of the contest (these things are exhausting) and of course to the participants, who have brought more than 40 new pieces of homebrew for the whole community to enjoy.
As far as prizes are concerned, the contest was also a smashing success in that regard, with more than $2000 in donations that are going to the winners. Speaking of the winners, they are of high quality of course, and if you have a PS Vita, I urge you to give these games and apps a try!
Reminder: You’ll need a hacked PS Vita to run these games, Jailbreaking your Vita is super easy to do nowadays.
Overall winners
3. The world end with you Solo Remix – prize: $300
The World Ends with You is an action role-playing game initially developed for the Nintendo DS, set in the modern-day Shibuya shopping district of Tokyo. Developer Hatoving (whom you might remember from his Vita port of Monument Valley) released this port for PS Vita based on the Android version. He gets the bronze medal in the contest, which earns him $300! SGKleba‘s comment on tis entry:
Plays great, made me order a DS copy to enjoy it natively 😛
2. VitaHot – prize: $530
A demo release for VitaHot, a Vita exclusive re-imagining of the original SuperHOT game where time moves only as you move – squeezed down onto the Vita with physics enabled and a constant silky smooth framerate. Developers MRKane anddigradi have delivered on this release, and get $530 as the “silver medal” winners. Here’s what FuHEN judge 2 old 4 Gaming has to say about the release:
I love SUPERHOT and this remake for Vita was excellent. The developer recreated the gameplay really well and the number of levels available was impressive. It also had the same addictive qualities as SUPERHOT and kept me playing for a while. There are some imperfections in the presentation, but the fact this is running on Vita is amazing.
1. Purified – prize: $800
Developer Balder has been working on Purified for a long time, and it shows. This original action shooter has great graphics, great music (by Brian Czernikowski), and great gameplay. It will certainly remain as one of the highlights of the Vita homebrew scene for years. No question that this game deserves its first place in this contest, even if a lot of other entries could have deserved that spot as well. From contest judge Gl33ntwine:
I give Purified the highest score hoping that the developer continues their amazing work and brings more content to this game. Optimization-wise or gameplay-wise it already is in a better state than 95% commercial games released nowadays.
Other winners
In addition to the 3 overall winners above, each category (original game, port, and utility) have their own winners. The winners in each category will be receiving goodies, PS Vita games, and PSN gift codes. As I understand it, the 3 overall winners are excluded from these results, to “spread” the prizes a bit evenly.

Nice all you people are amazing at what you do the vita lives on baby
Wonder if some of these homebrews could be legit games that just weren’t finished in time for official submission.
That’s possible, some of them really look good and It’s possible the devs had hopes to turn them into commercial games at some points.
Congrats to all the winners! Great work guys!

Docker can help you build a Home Media Server in just minutes without complex setups. In this post, I will show you how to build a perfect Docker media server using Docker and Ubuntu.

Note that this a “basic” level post on how to setup a perfect home media server using Docker only. We will also add a simple reverse proxy solution with Nginx reverse proxy, for easy access to your services, SSL, and security. For most homelab users this is sufficient.
Traefik Reverse Proxy is covered in detail in my advanced guide. In addition, a similar setup is also possible with Podman instead of Docker.
This post is written with a lot of details to help newbies get started on this journey. It may look long but the process itself should take less than an hour. So let’s get started with building the perfect Docker media server stack with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Jammy Jellyfish.

About This Docker Media Server Guide
Previously, this post was written for Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic. I should have updated it for 20.04 but I didn’t. Plus the differences between my original guide and GitHub Repo became more and more glaring, resulting in confusion for readers.
So this this post is highly overdue.
Note:| My setup changes constantly and evolves. It is nearly impossible to keep this guide synced with my latest updates. Therefore, I strongly suggest that you use this guide to get started and use by GitHub repo and the detailed commit notes I publish, for changes, improvements, inspiration, and more.
At the time of publishing this (May 2022), the guide should strictly follow my GitHub repo.
So, let us start with some basics.
Note: In order to minimize the duplication of content already published on this site, I will keep explanations to a minimum and link to existing content on this site.
What is a Home Media Server?
A Home Media Server is a server located in your home network that acts as a central data storage and serving device. It is a key part of most “homelabs”.
Typically, a home server is always on, has tons of storage capacity and ready to serve files (including media) when the need arises. We have covered several home server topics in great detail in the past. If you do not yet have a home server or are considering building one, then read this summary on the most common NAS or Home Server uses.
