PS5 – What are Decrypted Firmware Update PUP files?

The PUP (Playstation UPdate) format is an encrypted archive format that stores multiple files that constitute an update for the PS5, typically a Firmware update. These files are encrypted, and the files within them as well. The “Decrypted” PUP files presented here are the decrypted archive, but the files inside it are still encrypted.

• To unpack these files, you can use ps5_pup_unpacker (source code only). If you use Cygwin, I have a compiled version available here.
• As a reminder, these PUP files are originally decrypted using the ps5-pup-decrypt utility (this tool requires a hacked PS5)
