He’s on fire! Rinnegatamante has just released a stream of PS Vita ports in the past few days. The developer has just released unofficial PS Vita ports for Android games Anomaly WE, Anomaly Korea, Anomaly Defenders, and Anomaly 2.

These releases come after other great Android-based ports in the past few months, such as Fahrenheit,  Crazy Taxi, Rockstar’s Bully and GTA San Andreas, as well as Final Fantasy ports by Rinnegatamante and Frangar.

Just a few months ago, Rinne had shared that we had crossed the line of 30 Android games ported to PS Vita. He now announced that we’re at 40.

What’s Anomaly WE/ Anomaly Korea / Anomaly 2 / Anomaly Defenders for PS Vita

The Anomaly series includes Anomaly warzone Earth, Anomaly Korea, and Anomaly 2 (all of which were ported to PS Vita by Rinnegatamante recently). These games are described as “Reverse tower defense”.

In Anomaly WE, players control a convoy of vehicles investigating anomalies around sections of a downed alien spacecraft, which are protected by various types of defensive towers that have to be destroyed. Players do not directly control the vehicles in the convoy, rather they set paths for the convoy to follow along city streets, while also dropping power-ups such as decoys or smoke-screens to aid the survival of the convoy.

The game series received critical acclaim. Developer 11 bit studios are also known for This War of Mine (also ported to PS Vita last year) and Frostpunk.

Rinnegatamante has used the same technique relying on TheFloW’s wrapper, to port Android games straight to the PS Vita, with only minimal conversion, and no emulation required. From the port’s readme:

The port works by loading the official Android ARMv6 executable in memory, resolving its imports with native functions and patching it in order to properly run. By doing so, it’s basically as if we emulate a minimalist Android environment in which we run natively the executable as it is.

Setup Instructions (For End Users)

In order to properly install the game, you’ll have to follow these steps precisely:

• Install kubridge and FdFix by copying kubridge.skprx and fd_fix.skprx to your taiHEN plugins folder (usually ux0:tai) and adding two entries to your config.txt under *KERNEL:

  *KERNEL
  ux0:tai/kubridge.skprx
  ux0:tai/fd_fix.skprx

Note Don’t install fd_fix.skprx if you’re using rePatch plugin

• Optional: Install PSVshell to overclock your device to 500Mhz.
• Install libshacccg.suprx, if you don’t have it already, by following this guide.
• Obtain your copy of Anomaly 2/Anomaly WE/Anomaly Korea legally for Android in form of an .apk file and a .obb file.
• Open the apk with your zip explorer and extract the file libAndroid*.so from the lib/armeabi folder to ux0:data/anomaly.(or anomaly2, or anomaly_korea, or anomaly_defenders depending on the game you’re installing)
• Place the obb file named as main.obb in ux0:data/anomaly(or anomaly2, or anomaly_korea, or anomaly_defenders depending on the game you’re installing).
