PS5: Webkit Exploit 1.03 update released, ELF relocation support

Specterdev just pushed an update to the PS5 Kernel exploit (Webkit version), which adds support for relocations to ELF files. In other words, this should improve compatibility for more ELF files, possibly avoiding the need to recompile some existing tools moving forward. This new release also merges work from John Tornblom which fixes some bugs in ELF handling.
PS5 Kernel exploit – The latest status
Multiple hackers have been looking into pushing the PS5 Kernel exploit one step further, with some of them working on the BD-JB (Blu-Ray) implementation, others on the Webkit implementation (these are two usermode entry points that ultimately leverage the same kernel exploit for privilege escalation).
In parallel, we know that work has started on hardware reverse engineering of the PS5, although how long this endeavor will take (and whether it will yield results) is a big unknown.
What we can do with a hacked PS5 today remains limited, but this is not why this update matters: the important point here is that multiple hackers are actively looking into the exploit. Between what they’re sharing publicly, and what stays under wraps, I still have good hopes that we could see some major progress for PS5 hacks, in the months to come.
Download and run the PS5 Kernel exploit
- You can follow our tutorial to set up the PS5 Kernel exploit. It includes a link to the latest and greatest update
- Alternatively if you already have the exploit up and running and just want to update it, you can grab the files on the project’s github.
- Last but not least, if you are instead using the exploit from some public host, no doubt that they will be updating their files in the days to come, and you have nothing to do (we do recommend that you try to host and setup the exploit yourself though, if only to get some level of knowledge of how the whole thing works)
Keep up the great work everyone.
I’m thinking of just updating my PS5 4.02 firmware to the latest and play Dead Space remake. Everyone has waited and donated long enough. It may be 2024 before we get something proper. TheFlow and his exploit has not been duplicated yet and that was the holy grail to a PS5 JB early on
I feel you. I’m not going to do that though , instead i’m going to get a second PS5 ( 2nd hand ) update it and put my 4.03 on ice.
I hope that ps5 will be never broken but instead buy rtx 3060 returnal 80-100 fps
You like returnal huh?
