PS4 Emulation: fpPS4 making exponential progress, and a third party launcher available

It was less than 2 weeks ago that we talked about fpPS4, but developer Red-prig has been burning the midnight oil to add functionality to his PS4 emulator. It appears fpPS4 is now way ahead of most other PS4 emulators in terms of the games it can run. 57 Games have now been reported as playable, and fpPS4 has claimed another milestone recently, with a second 3D game, Tiny Troopers Joint Ops, now getting ingame. In parallel, developer Temmie has released a GUI launcher, for those of us tired of the command line.
What is fpPS4

fpPS4 is a PS4 emulator for Windows x64, more specifically a “PS4 compatibility layer (emulator) on Free Pascal”. According to the developer, this project is made for fun and just in its beginning stage.
FpPS4 already runs some commercial games. The compatibility list now shows 57 games as “playable” (41 commercial games, 16 homebrew games) and 36 more that go “ingame” (which at this point means they most likely have game-breaking issues). Playable games include Sonic Mania, Super Meat Boy, Undertale, 10 Second Ninja X, Uncanny Valley, Asdivine hearts, and Shutshimi. You’ll need a decent GPU to get playable framerates, though.

2D Games marked as “playable” play great for the most part in fpPS4 in my experience. Tiny Troopers Joint Ops is now marked as “playable” in the compatibility list, but I personally wouldn’t go that far, and simply consider it “ingame”. I doubt anyone managed to get it to run at acceptable framerates at the moment. You can see the experience, using Temmie’s launcher, in the video below.
Temmie’s fpPS4 Launcher released

In parallel to Red-Prig’s great progress on the emulator itself, Developer Temmie has released a Launcher for fpPS4. Great for those of us who are tired of using the command line (or creating the matching bat files), plus it adds a little bit of eye candy.
Hopefully that launcher will be improved to save one’s settings for each given game, as in its current iteration it’s a bit annoying to have to remember all settings by myself (a problem that .bat files don’t have!).
Check our video below where we test the launcher:
Download fpPS4 & fpPS4 Launcher
Note: If you like Red-Prig’s work on fpPS4, you can support him on Boost.
- You can download the latest build here (scroll down to “artifacts”)
- You might also need additional files which sometimes circulate online. Zecoxao shared an archive with everything to get you started here. (be sure to replace Zecoxao’s exe with the latest one you just got in the step above)
- To run fpPS4, type fpps4 -e C:\mygame\eboot.bin (replacing C:\mygame\eboot.bin with the actual location of your decrypted eboot)
- Alternatively, you can use Temmie’s launcher. Follow the instructions from the launcher’s readme. Note: I personally recommend that you try launching the emulator yourself a few times first, to get used to its command line mechanism.
Minimum system requirements
- OS: Windows 7 SP1 x64 and higher
- CPU: x64, AVX2 support
- GPU: Vulkan API support

Gone to artifacts from the github site, can see the file, but there’s nothing clickable, how do you download it?
the “fpPS4” artifact should be clickable. That’s the executable you want to download

It’s not. Clickin it, does nothing, it’s just an icon, no link, nothin.
Weird, I’m sorry, I don’t know what I can tell you. For me with Chrome in Windows, this is definitely a download link.
Using Chrome as well, even tried Edge.. there’s no link. I can see the fpPS4, but it’s black, not blue.
Turns out you need to be logged in to github for the link to be clickable!
Let’s be honest… bloodborne is the reason people want a ps4 emulator… its like one of the only notable exclusive games that hasn’t been released somewhere else…
Also the last of us
Oh.. nvm, just found out part I is coming to PC. D:
Gravity Rush 😀
is there maybe an external integration for pkg unpacker to external launcher config or soemthing …
