PS5/PS4 JB-BD Exploits: TheFloW’s video presentation now available online
Following his disclosure of a series of exploits involving the Blu-Ray Java implementation on PS4/PS5 a few weeks ago (a.k.a. BD(JB), the Hardwear.io folks have now uploaded TheFloW‘s presentation on their youtube channel.
What is BD-JB for PS4/PS5
BD-JB is a series of exploits (an exploit chain) that allows exploitation of the PS4 and PS5, up to firmwares 9.04 and 4.51 respectively, revealed by Hacker TheFloW earlier this year.
Although the disclosure has not been accompanied by a full Jailbreak for either console, this presentation has sparked excitement in the PlayStation hacking scene because using the Blu-Ray as an entry point is a “fresh” approach compared to most recent exploits that rely on Webkit vulnerabilities as their usermode entry point.
Work is progressively being released for both PS4 and PS5 by hackers in the scene who are working from TheFloW’s disclosure. We’ve seen for example an FTP Server released for PS4 9.03/9.04 and a way to list files on the PS5’s hard drive.

This video will not bring much new content compared to TheFloW’s disclosure on HackerOne plus the slides that he’s already shared. Nonetheless, it’s great for those of us who couldn’t be physically present at that conference.
There is also a demo of the exploit, as well as a couple of questions toward the end of the video, which add some color to what we already knew. Check the video below
