PS5 Superslim by DIY Perks is impressive (but there’s a trick)
Youtube Channel DIY Perks specialize in pretty impressive mods for electronic devices. We’ve featured them on the blog before, for a really nice looking wood and carbon fiber PS5 mod. Today, Matt on DIY Perk showcases a very impressive (and functional!) PS5 Super slim. It looks nice and is really, really smaller than the original…but there’s a trick.
PS5 Super Slim Mod – Less than 2cm high
You can check the full video below to see how Matt built this impressive PS5 Super Slim. At less than 2cm high, and with a fancy copper casing, it looks really nice compared to the original.
PS5 Super Slim – There’s a Trick
So, what’s the trick to make this thing so small? Well, there’s actually two. The first one is that the power supply is now external. That’s not uncommon, as Matt mentions. Even official “Slim” versions of PS5 PlayStation consoles often have had their power supply moved to an external brick, for the actual console to appear smaller.

Slim consoles often rely on an external power supply to appear smaller
On top of that, and it’s a big one, the cooling system has been moved externally as well. When all is said and done, this is what the cooling/power supply device looks like. Ouch!
As Matt mentions though, this big thing gets hidden under the table, and once everything’s in place, the end result does look very good. Check the video below for the full build!

I’m guessing it’s a typo and they meant playstations in general
