PSVR tracking with PS4 Camera on PC, SteamVR – Driver4VR Beta Release
Scene veteran hackinside brought light to this beta release of PSVR tracking support for PC, through Driver4VR, available with Early Access on Steam.
What is Driver4VR?
Driver4VR lets you use the functionality of your PSVR on PC, in Steam games in particular. It’s still early access software and has a pretty cumbersome setup/calibration process, but it could mean you get to play PC VR games without having to buy a second VR headset if you already own a PSVR.
This solution could allow you for example to play the superior PC version of Beat Saber with your PSVR.
Using PSVR on PC
Using PSVR on PC has been possible for some time now, with some limitations, for example with Trinus PSVR. This release is however, to my knowledge, the most integrated way to use PSVR on a PC, enabling tracking with the PS4 Camera you already own, and without additional hardware. Driver4VR supports the PS Move controllers as well.
Note however that you will need a USB adapter for the PS4 camera. You can get an official one from Sony (which they give away for free for PS5 compatibility), or buy an unofficial one.
This is early access software, and the initial setup, as well as calibration process, is not a walk in the park, but it is doable. Of course these steps will improve as Driver4VR gets better with time.
The video below, by Driver4VR, explains all the steps, as well as where to get Driver4R on Steam, and other relevant drivers. The solution relies on Driver4VR itself, Hackinside’s PS4 Camera Driver, and PSMoveService for PS Move controller support:

trinus psvr driver4vr linux edition ? for ps4 linux ? shipped with ps5 adapter ?
What about support for #Linux ?
Could this possibly work with Half-life: Alyx ?
That’s awesome
As awesome it may be, not worth going through all the effort when you can get a random cheap WMR headset that works way better or Quest 2.
I do hope it pave way for PSVR 2 though, that’s going to be incredible.
Are those headsets really worth it? I don’t want to fall into the “brand names are the best” fallacy, but I also don’t want to buy something that will be disappointed. Any recommendations on good third-party headsets?
