Well, this is something that will definitely not quell rumors. Over the past 24 hours, the PlayStation account on HackerOne has seen two new bounties awarded to Cturt and TheFloW.

TheFloW’s new report, in particular, is attached to a $10K bounty. In layman’s terms, this is “something big”.

This could be his recent PS5 kernel exploit of course, or this could be more confirmation of the PS4 9.00 exploit that lots of people have been waiting for.

We also have to keep in mind that just because a bounty is being paid on HackerOne, doesn’t necessarily mean it will end up being disclosed. As a matter of fact, the vast majority of PlayStation vulnerabilities going through that bounty program never get released publicly. As always, it’s very difficult to confirm if and when a new PS4 exploit could be released (let alone a PS5 one), but Zecoxao, as well as TheFloW himself, have been throwing strong hints at the scene lately. Knowing TheFloW’s consistency with the scene, I doubt we’d be seeing so many signals if an actual release wasn’t right around the corner.

With that being said, last time TheFloW dropped a kernel exploit on the PS4 scene, it consisted in a full description of the vulnerability, but no actual Proof of Concept. Getting from TheFloW’s disclosure to a full fledged PS4 Jailbreak took hackers months.

Bottom line is, we have to remain patient.

Both CTurt and TheFlow have been huge drivers of the PlayStation scene in general and the PS4 in particular. TheFloW has been awarded $30K from PlayStation since their bounty program launched last year.
