Reports: Webkit exploit still works on PS4 9.03 and PS5 21.02-04.50
A few members of the scene are reporting that the recently released Firmware updates for PS4 and PS5 do not patch the latest Webkit exploit. Nevertheless, we still recommend you do not update.
PS4 and PS5 Latest updates apparently do not patch Webkit fontFace vulnerability
Yesterday, Sony pushed firmware updates 9.03 and 21.02-04.50 for PS4 and PS5 respectively. The scene has been worried that these updates could patch the recently revealed Webkit Fontface usermode exploit, so it’s been advised to not update your console if you’re hoping for an exploit in the near future.
However, some members of the scene are reporting that the Webkit exploit is not patched in the latest firmwares.
This is in particular clear for the PS4, with NanoSpeedGamer publishing a video where he showcases the exploit still working as expected on PS4 9.03 (see below)
Scene Veteran Jeerum also reports that the exploit still works fine on the latest PS5 firmware.
On ps5 webkit vuln still works 🙂

PS4/PS5: Do not update just yet
With that being said, PlayStation firmware updates are never completely innocent. With recently revealed (put not publicly available) PS5 Kernel exploits from TheFloW and Fail0verflow, as well as “something big” rumored to be released for PS4 this year, it’s highly possible Sony have been hard at work patching some holes. It’s always easy to update your console, but it’s practically* impossible to go back. Therefore, as much as possible, we advise people who are waiting for a jailbreak to stay put and not upgrade their console.
Now, I know this is painful for a lot of us, and, if you have to update in order to play the latest games or use PlayStation online service, go ahead and do it. But you’ll have to do it knowing that you might be sacrificing the possibility of a future hack.
As always, check our PS4 Jailbreak page for the latest updates on this.
* Downgrading your PS4 involves doing a dump of your system through hardware means prior to upgrading it. Downgrading a PS5 is not technically doable at the moment, publicly.

Good news indeed.
Till they dont fix the ps4 sevegame exploit, transfered from a modded ps4, you can update safely
And what is Sony fix the PS5 Kernel Exploit ??
Only the Flow can show us If Its save to update
Time for a new tweet champ !!!
Be cautious.. it could be that sony didnt patch the webkit exploit, only the kernel exploit.. because without the kernel exploit being released, this kind of news will go out and people would have reasons to upgrade anyway thinking the latest is still “vulnerable”. So be cautious. this could be a lure.
I think it’s a bait. They patched the kernel exploit and left webkit exploit on purpose so people will update. Then they’re gonna patch the webkit exploit as well in the next patch.
It’s no coincidence that both PS4 and PS5 updates landed on the same day. Probably the kernel exploit works on both PS4 and PS5 due to some old code/bugs from PS4 used in PS5.
luckly I dont have ps5 or xsx
First to say First.
Still on 8.52 and Waiting.
Patience and don’t ask. Just be patient!
I’ll be happier if they did block it. Leaving it alone could mean the exploit is useless so Sony didn’t even care. It seemed to be something big for a while, but the big thing still didn’t come, despite a post said it’s coming before
It’ll drop when it’s ready. These guys are working for free so the least we can do is be patient.
Well they show Sony the exploit first, and they pay them. They probably have to wait until they release the exploit
I understand that, but they claimed ‘something big coming!’ a whole month ago. Free working doesn’t justify for false info, does it?
I’m in 8.XX, am I concerned by this exploit or should I update to 9 ?
Short answer: No, don’t update.
Long answer: No, don’t update. Stay on the lowest firmware.
Good answer, thanks 😀
I just really want to stress don’t update.
Zecacao posted a tweet that a kernel exploit is patched in 9 03
