Release: psse-decrypt (Playstation Mobile encryption has been cracked!)
Developer KuromeSan has released psse-decrypt, a tool that lets you decrypt Playstation Suite (Playstation Mobile) games, 9 years after the service first appeared on Playstation Vita.
What is Playstation Suite/ Playstation Mobile
Playstation Mobile was a Software suite and SDK used to create games and apps for the Playstation Vita/Playstation TV, as well as for some Android phones and tablets. It launched in 2011. The service was shut down in 2015 due to lack of popularity, but approximately 700 games were created for the service during its lifespan.
This release means it will be possible to decrypt some of these old mobile games, to possibly run them in emulators. It grants the developer a $102 bounty from the vita-nuova bounty program:
PSSE is the encryption scheme used by PlayStation Mobile games. It is simular to PFS where it encrypts all files in the game.
No one knows how it works…
if you can make a decryption tool that does not require running the PS mobile runtime (eg, decrypting the files at run time does not count) it should just use the rif and files there.
It should work on both PSM Unity and PSM Normal games
Preferably this would be done on a computer rather than on the console, since on console you may as well do it with runtime,
Congrats to KuromeSan!
Download and use psse-decrypt
decrypt.py <psm game folder>
- Unfortunatley, its probably not possible to play PSM games without a license..
