New PS5 Model spotted in Australia, UK
Prepare to be underwhelmed. The “new” PS5 model, which we found out about a few weeks ago, has been spotted at retail locations in Australia and the UK. This isn’t of course a “slim” revision of the PS5, it’s too early in the product’s lifecycle for that, but it’s lighter and has a new screw to attach the base of the PS5 to the console, so that you won’t need a screwdriver.
What’s new with PS5 Model CFI-11?
CFI-11* is the SKU for this new model, per opposition to the existing CFI-10* . Spotted in Australia was a CFI-1102A according to PressStart.
This new model is about 300 grams lighter, and features a new screw for the console’s base, that doesn’t require a screwdriver, but can be installed with your fingers.
Twitter user @bdp2007 also reports that the base itself has a different clamp.
Not only is the screw different it’s a different clamp as well. pic.twitter.com/JLr6eK2tae

Quality of life improvements are important, I suppose…
It could be interesting to understand why the new model is slightly lighter, but that part hasn’t been clarified yet.
And of course, what most people really want to know is when the retail inventory of PS5s will come back up to a more “normal” state, so that they can actually purchase one, instead of looking at pictures of a slightly different screw.
Did you manage to get your hands on a PS5?
