3DS Firmware 11.15.0-47 Released, CFW seems unimpacted

Nintendo have pushed firmware 11.15.0-47 for the 3DS/New3DS systems. The update appears to be a minor one that does not break Custom Firmware functionality, but this is pending 100% confirmation from the scene.
In particular, it does feels off to get an update in the middle of the year, when the 3DS had entered a “maintenance only” cycle, with updates happening only toward the end of the year since 2018.
The previous firmware update was 11.14.0-46, in November last year.
Nintendo 3DS Firmware 11.15.0-47 – what’s new
The official changelog, currently only to be found on the JP page, roughly translates as the usual “stability improvement” change.
- Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.
Nintendo 3DS Firmware 11.15.0-47 – Impact on custom firmware
People have confirmed that Custom Firmware still seem to work correctly, with multiple 3DS scene members reporting that Luma3DS 10.2.1 still works fine.
It is said that the changes are mostly in the Internet Browser, to account for updates in SSL modules and certificates. This could certainly be a routine update (SSL certificates need to be refreshed semi regularly), but we can’t totally dismiss the possibility that some Browser vulnerabilities may have been fixed in the process. Nevertheless, it appears the update is harmless for CFW users.

Can no longer install CFW via browserhax with this update.
back to seedminer most likely then
Really? So it blocked an entrypoint.
Pity most people with a 3DS already have it hacked or will use another entrypoint. There are many.
Yea, just like $ony and another useless firmware which does nothing.
At least NintenDOH dont block homebrew everytime. They usually leave it alone like this update or do tiny changes which break it for about 10 mins.
But again, stability…. i guess you can build a highrise building with the 3DS as its got so much stability nothing can bring it down.
And with covid you need stability on your life, just weird we are only finding it in console updates.
They have to at least make it seem like they’re doing something about cfw. Hve you ever seen “The Great Butter Battle”? The more Nintendo does, the more the exploiters do. Perpetual escalation leads to nuclear mutual assured destruction. I think it’s commendable that Nintendo keeps a reserved quiet approach.
This update stinks! I was gonna try the new browserhax-xl hack today, and when i discovered the spotpass light was on. When i opened my ds, it said a system update was available. i thought this was a joke update, so updated anyway, but then i checked the settings and realized this was an actual update. I was hoping browserhax wasn’t patched. unfortunately, it was. when i try to perform browserhax-xl, it tells me to get on a 3ds on 11.14-046 firmware. Guys, please work on a browserhax for 11.15 (and can it be pc-less, too? my pc won’t charge)
yeah… “stability”… im sure plenty of malicious hackers were exploiting vulnerabilities to steal credit card information. What? People were running custom firmware? ah. i see.
Not sure if this updates’ “about system updates” page thing is new, but it fairly explicitly notes that if you have any “existing or future modded system or software” on the console or “use an unauthorized accessory or device” that your system will become inoperable and result in removal of unauthorized content. It even says that if you do not accept the update some software might be unplayable as well.
