PlayStation 4: PS4HEN released for Firmware 7.02 following the firmware being fully cracked open!
Earlier this week, Sleirsgoevy released a working WebKit exploit for Firmware 7.02 on the PlayStation 4, based on Synacktiv’s work, which opened the flood gates for full hacks on this firmware. In this article, we’re going to look at the release of PS4HEN for FW 7.02 and what PS4HEN is.
What is PS4HEN?
For those who never heard of it or are unsure what it is, PS4HEN is essentially a homebrew enabler for the PlayStation 4 but it packs in some more stuff of its own. Going by the GitHub release post for PS4HEN 2.1.3, which has been ported to FW 7.02, this software also brings along:
- The ability to use Debug Settings which allows one to use the Package Installer to get homebrew on their console
- Remote package installation support
- Functional Rest Mode
- Allowing screenshots to be taken anywhere
- Support for external HDDs using the FW 7.xx format on lower firmwares and much more
PS4HEN gets ported to FW 7.02 paving way for various homebrew updates
Yesterday, ChendoChap released an updated version of PS4HEN 2.1.3 that brings along support for Firmware 7.02 which has since been hosted by David Miller (Znullptr) on GitHub together with the required exploit. This means that it is now possible to run homebrew on this firmware together with the functionality listed above thanks to recent efforts in the hacking scene.
Furthermore, various homebrew has been updated to support the newly-hacked FW 7.02 with some updated homebrew including Lapy‘s PS4-Xplorer, Easy PKG Extractor and PS4 App Lock. As per community reports, it also seems that dumping of games requiring FW 7.00-7.02 is underway although sources of where one can find such dumps won’t be provided for obvious reasons.
Conclusion
As information seems to be a tad scattered, it seems that @Znullptr’s Twitter is the best place to get more information about PS4HEN on FW 7.02 as it includes download links together with a hosted version of the payload. In related news, sleirsgoevy who’s behind porting the WebKit exploit that made hacking FW 7.02 possible seems to have added ChendoChap’s PS4HEN payload to his ps4jb hacking solution.

YAhooo Early Xmas To All of Us Genius
Xmas would be a proper CFW or latest 8.xx Hen so we could finally try PSN even with a risk of ban same like it was possible with PS3 while PS5 is out now
Nice, *open my PS4*, *see firmware 7.52*
Guess I will wait some more.
stop crying, if you wanted cfw then you wouldn’t update
you’re aware some of us have friends, yeah? that we play games with? and maybe don’t have the privilege of multiple systems?
7.52 isn’t exactly new either, mate.
My Pro is on 7.52, I have a slim that is on 5.05 so I am good. Anyone can afford a second ps4 really they are cheap.
Serious question here. Should I stay on 5.05 or should I now finally update? If games can get back ported, I might stay where I am… Anyone can advise?
6.72 is so stable believe me also netflix and youtube working aaaand you doesnt need an internet connection for exploit the ps4
If you want the most compatibility still 5.05 is still best but 6.72 has gotten a lot more stable. Hopping to 7.02 right now is just too soon though unless you’re a dev.
Question, I’ve lived in a cave wrt to PS4 homebrew
1. is Al-Azif (hosted using an RPi) + cache still a viable method?
2. are the online methods with DNS change susceptible to detection & ban? (Not that I linked a PSN account or wtv it is called now)
I wouldn’t bother with any online methods. Connect the ps4 to your local wifi network/ wired but put the dns server settings on the ps4 to 127.0.0.1. (stops outside local network contact) Then you can host the exploit on pretty much any http server on your local network. Heck, you can even use a simple http server from the Play Store on an Android phone.
Hi awfuldance, to use al azif’s payloads go to network connection and edit the dns settings then go to User’s Guide and cache all.
Since it’s not the latest firmware version, they have no clue if you’re jailbroken or not so they won’t ban you.
I’m on 5.05.
Is 6.72 stable? Can I update I play “backups” without resinstall everything?
Is it possible to run backups on 7.02 yet?
I’m on 5.05.

This is amazing news. Thank you much!

Marcelo, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I would stay on 5.05 if I were you.
I still have a brand new PS4 Pro on its launch firmware of 3.70 in my closet.
*slow clap*
Very nice!
Amazing progress, this is what it all about. Bye $ony
I can’t find a conclusive evidence whether it’s ok to upgrade from 5.55 to 7.02? Backporting is an unnecessary chore and not working on all games.
What is 7.02s jailbreak rate? It was posted here that success rate of the early hack was something like 1 in 30 tries, Has it been improved further or this is still the case?
Where can I find 100% compatible 7.02 pup with correct hash?
Go with google. And you’d rather update to 6.72, trust me. If the update screen shows 6.72 and you hit X and the update goes fine you have some very nice DNS settings that hack the user’s guide from the settings menu. From there the jailbreak is as easy as caching everything and hitting the corresponding buttons. Cheers !
