We’re back, kind of…
The server hosting Wololo.net had some sort of catastrophic hard drive failure over the weekend, which took the site down for a couple of days.
But fear not, I was completely prepared for this kind of event and had backups in place!
No, that was a lie, I was totally not prepared. I managed to find an old backup of the site dating back from June. This means we’ve lost articles from the blog, but also probably a lot of content from the forums. If you’ve posted something on the /talk forums in the past 4 months, that’s gone. If you’ve posted a comment on the blog in the past 4 months, that’s gone too.
There are probably a bunch of other things that are still broken or out of date here and there, so expect the behavior of the site to be a bit cranky for the next few days while I figure things out.
If you find anything weird on the site, email me at wagic.the.homebrew at gmail dot com, that’s probably the easiest way to reach me for now.
I apologize to everyone who lost data or got inconvenienced due to this 🙁
considered downloading the articles from here and converting them back to markdown/bbcode/whatever? http://web.archive.org/web/20201008181820/http://wololo.net/
Fecking n00b.
guys I know that last article about the vita theme was embarrassing, but you don’t need to destroy the site to cover it: P
Welcome back to life, I thought that you have gone 2 cm below.
sounds like somebody needs to learn about data backup.
Atmosphere 0.13 just got release? Cool! <3
Spammers gonna be cranky.
Karma
2020 strikes again
Karma for what tho
Obviously for messing with Sony and Nintendo noob.
Welcome back Wololo.
Seems wololo.net do have new article auto e-mail sending function, how about restore those new articles manually by referring the e-mail copy?
Or recover them from Facebook, where they get posted?
nooooob lol
sorry to hear that
UNRAID parity drive, problem solved and on a budget. no time machine involved, so, not retroactively ;(
I am very sorry to hear this. I hope you can be more prepared next time. I also hope we can have most of the conent re-posted.
As for what is actually lost, archive.org does have a version from the 8th of october: https://web.archive.org/web/20201008181820/http://wololo.net/
Granted getting data out of that one will probably not be viable.
In general automatic backups are your friend, just make sure to regularly check if they are being made properly.
who cares the site is dead anyway
Are all data for latest ps4 and ps3 still linked to this site
Haha what a nooob, has articles about backing up games, doesn’t backup his website.
If the archive.org backup is accurate, there’s only 3 pages of posts between June and now which is max 30 articles to restore which I’m sure could be done manually copy paste into your backend CMS in a day or 2? The comments won’t be there but at least the content will.
If archive.org is accurate there are only 30 posts to restore between Jun 1st and now which would only take 1-2 days manually copying and pasting.
Comments won’t be there but at least you’ll have all the content.
Backups backups backups backups backups
Really glad you´re back. But how is it possible to not make a backup at least once a month when running a great site like this? Once a week should be recommended but at least once a month. Hopefully everything can get restored with the above tips.
I have a backup of all lost blog posts in my RSS feed reader, I can send it to you if needed.
eMail with attachment sent to your wagic.the.homebrew (gmail) listed in the contact page
