Nintendo discontinues 3DS production in Japan.
Earlier this week, on the Japanese site for the Nintendo 3DS, a statement was put out letitng users know that production of the 3DS has been discontinued.
Another interesting thing to note is that the U.S version of the 3DS site (www.nintendo.com/3ds), now leads to www.nintendo.com instead. There are no mentions to the 3DS either, other than a link to the support page right at the bottom. It seems as though Nintendo is now focusing all their resources on the Switch, as it is their only available console (with the Wii U being discontinued long ago). All in all, I just find it very odd that they would discontinue the 3DS out of the blue with no prior warining. We all knew it would happen eventually, but with no statement from them (other than the message on the Japenese site), its strange.
Even though Nintendo may have killed off the 3DS, hackers and modders aren’t done with it yet. With projects such as Citra, TWiLightMenu++, and more, I believe the 3DS still has plenty of years left ahead of it.
What are your thoughts on the discontinuation of the 3DS? Make sure to drop them in the comments!
