I'm a girl that's liked technology from day 1. Mostly interested in the PSVita/PSP scene but I've always modded my stuff when it's possible, that is :)Contact me via DM at @KawaiiAuroraA on Twitter if you have any questions/concerns about my articles or if you have any article requests.

With free mcboot you dont need the hazzle of burning discs, its easy to instal and you can play backups via usb hdd, also you can use swapmagic elf to load your own games, I say freemcboot is more convenient in that way, you should change the title a bit cause it seems you are saying that pspps was ported to the ps2.

The old DVD players contain DVD game disk before and you can play NES games. I think it follows same principle. If this will be exploited with the next generation consoles then the DVD disk and drive will be the newest entry point, No wonder why Sony got PS5 with digital version only. This way you can study what the game disk contain instead of studying exploit on the consoles

It is nice to have this simple entry point. However, it is more practical to use this entry to set up free mcboot as your regular homebrew entry point. The PS2 DVD drives are notorious for breaking down, so I would try to tax it as little as possible.

I like MVG’s breakdown of this which says it’s easier to get a PS2 hacked by using this new method as the entry point. Then using Free McBoot as your daily hack. I seem to remember doing a disc swap trick with Agent Under Fire in order to prepare this which involves taking the front off the phat models and using a specially cut credit card to open the DVD drive, so this is a lot easier for latecomers to the PS2 modding scene.
