Sony reveal the PS5 design, a discless “digital” version, and a stream of upcoming games

PS5 Design reveal, and “digital” edition
It was not certain that the PS5 design would be revealed in this stream, but Sony delivered, and showed us not one, but two consoles, kind of. In addition to the PS5 itself, Sony will be releasing a “digital” edition, which will not have a blu-ray player. This is an interesting decision from Sony. I think the last time Sony attempted “digital only” was with the PSP Go, and it certainly was too early at the time, but now could be right, and there’s a possibility we’re looking at the last console generation with physical discs.
I can say I’m pretty interested in the digital edition myself, not only because the design looks better, but because I haven’t been using discs that much recently. For most people, I think the choice will depend on your internet connection and download speed, as well as how lively the “second hand” games market is in your area.
As far as games are concerned, I personally think Kena looked really gorgeous and interesting. All the games looked great actually, but that’s the one that grabbed my attention the most during the stream. Which games are you looking forward to on the PS5? What do you think of the console’s design?
The Hacking Scene on PS5 will start by reverse-engineering how to crack this obnoxious box open. 😛
And then keep it secret!! But will hint at a release. Just to not release it
yeah because sony will probably patch this in the ps5 slim if there release it
IDK who will release what and when but again I will buy PS5 only if there is JB/CFW 🙂
Pragmata looks pretty interesting even though it was just a trailer with no gameplay.
I am so excited. Gran turismo, horizon zero dawn 2, and demon souls?????!?!?!?!?!
Looks awesome, the day they release only a digital version and no disks, is the day I stop buying new consoles. Old school gamer and I like having my media on cartridges or disk. Even if the resale value was 1 cent. that’s still better than no resale value for digital games.
Well I bought games to play and keep. Not for reselling and I only bought games I truly ike so even if I can resell my digital library for the same value as I bought, I won’t sell it because these are the games I love but not the trading material.
Exactly that’s my problem with digital-only. You design a product to require a server as a middleman. In 20 or so years from release, your console might become a glorified paper weight if it hasn’t been hacked to allow backups as servers shut down, where with tangible media this isn’t bound to happen (unless there’s some kind of always-online DRM).

“I only bought games I truly like”
You telling me you’ve never bought a game and it turned out to be a ***? That’s not possible, especially for an old school gamer.
Or do you buy digital then go physical for keepsakes?
Your dammmm right
Ummm “bye-bye” piracy? Can we “celebrate” it by getting latest CFW for PS4 so we dirty pirates can finally indulge in all that Sony has to offer for us on PS4!?
It had a nice variety. Could have done without nba 2k21. Really missed having a Final Fantasy or Octopath Traveler/Bravely Default/Lost Odyssey style RPG.
What an ugly console.
Yepp, definitely ugly, same like the Xbox X Series NAS-Design …and the controller is something between XboX One & PS4 Controller wearing a tank top.
Not worth getting the ps5 with how sony backstabbed its weeb fans by censoring anime games
considering the sizes ps5 games will come out at, at potential pricing of extra storage that can house them and provide required bandwidth, i am afraid the digital console may fail.
unless there will be plenty of small sized games for it.
it looks like a router
interesting, a bit ugly that wants to look very cyber-modern-something. I hope they will not require always-on network connection for singleplayer games as well. Also for old-school physical media lovers: if it can be cracked (and everything can be given enough interest) then you can collect your games on a 10tb usb drive for eternity…
Simply not worth it… And I “speak” being one of those that literally has EVERY SINGLE console released TO DATE.
really? EVERY SINGLE console to date? i bet you don”t have an Apple Pippin.
THE PS5 HAS NO GAMES 😀
Never buy diz shi*
just buy the 3rd genertion of GTA 5. Thats not even funny anymore…
So…. Piracy is gonna be harder for them now. You’ll either be swapping games out or buying more external memory.
I say “memory” Because that SSD is a 2 in 1. with the controller helping ofc.
It looks great but I like my console placed horizontally
