Switch News: Team Xecuter Ship Their Review & Test Units Of SX Core & SX Lite – Hacking your patched Switch or Switch Lite is getting closer!
After numerous delays brought about largely due to the coronavirus situation, Team Xecuter’s hacking solutions for unpatchable Switch consoles are finally in advanced stages thanks to a new development. In this article, we’ll be looking at this development together at what’s next for SX Core & SX Lite!
Team Xecuter ships their Review & Test Samples of SX Core & SX Lite

A little over 6 months since the initial rumours, the first units of SX Core & SX Lite have been shipped out with general availability probably not being too far off!
Starting off with a little background, rumours that Team Xecuter were up to something in the unhackable Switch department started cropping up last October with legitimacy being built up after they showed a picture of a Switch Lite running SX OS 3.0 in December.
Ever since then, bits of new information kept being made available but then, the coronavirus took the world by surprise and things ended up getting delayed by quite a bit. However, the coronavirus situation in China, which is where Team Xecuter is located, has now significantly cooled down and the review and test samples of SX Core & SX Lite have just been shipped!
The purpose of these review and test samples is so that trusted community members with experience in soldering can help with:
- Fine tuning installation diagrams as both SX Lite and SX Core require some degree of soldering
- Noticing and helping to correct any issues that may be encountered while installing or using the aforementioned hacking solutions
Team Xecuter have also noted that approved testers/reviewers will be receiving their tracking number soon with some of them having already received it as per information from a tester. Delivery is expected by the end of this week or sometime next week so that the SX Lite & SX Core can get into hands of consumers as early as possible after appropriate testing performed!
Are all firmwares compatible with SX Core & SX Lite? When will I be able to get my hands on a unit?
According to information that’s currently available, these are some primary points that should be known about Team Xecuter’s upcoming hacking solutions:
- SX Core is compatible with all non-Lite Switch models including mariko, ipatched and fusee-gelee vulnerable models although there’s little point in installing it in the latter unless you just want a permanent hack
- SX Lite is compatible with all Switch Lite models
- Up till now, all Switch & Switch Lite models are compatible with SX Core and SX Lite respectively although this may change if Nintendo comes up with a new hardware revision to patch out the vulnerabilities being used if this is possible
- All firmware versions are supported on both SX Core & SX Lite
- An SX OS license is included with both SX Core & SX Lite (which may be one of the reasons for the $45.95 price) but Team Xecuter have stated that it’s possible to install other CFWs meaning that you’ll be able to install Atmosphere which is one of the most popular CFWs for hacked Switch consoles
When it comes to getting your hands on one, Team Xecuter recommends placing a pre-order if you can install it yourself but they’ve also stated they have large stocks ready to be shipped in May so while demand is expected to be high, there should be a good supply as well.
It’s important to state that Team Xecuter have advised that if you’re not comfortable with soldering, you should ask someone who is to install it for you meaning that the soldering required is probably not trivial!
Conclusion
Other than good news on the unpatchable Switch front, PCSX2 1.6.0 (the de facto PS2 emulator) is out over 4 years since the last release which was PCSX2 1.4.0. The PlayStation Vita’s DaedalusX64 port is also in the process of receiving updates as Rinnegatamante has added both the ability to show ROM artwork + the ROM’s compatibility status!

For those wondering, I have not applied for a test unit as I lack the soldering skills necessary. However, when I’m able to get an SX Lite installed in my Switch Lite, I’ll do a review as soon as possible 😉
Already got my pre-order placed, just waiting for the launch!

I hope Nintendo does something to prevent this, piracy will hurt the switch’s future releases like a b*tch. I don’t have a great salary, but I can afford every game I want, why can’t people just do things as they are intended? At least pirate users will get banned if trying to go online and that makes me happy.
>I don’t have a great salary, but I can afford every game I want, why can’t people just do things as they are intended?
Weird statement. I can do it so why others can’t. There are many factors and circumstances. Many pro and contra arguments to pirating. It’s not black and white.
I’m happy to pirate ever since they forced me to pay for their *** P2P online service and all-round anti-consumerism. Sadly it doesn’t really hurt them much because people who pirate wouldn’t buy the games even if they couldn’t pirate anyway.
It’s more than proven that piracy doesn’t hurt sales of games, music or films. It actually makes the opposite effect. And the Switch doesn’t get hurt by piracy in the slightest. Good to know you spend your hard earned cash in all the games you wont, but I also hope you don’t buy many that end up with less than 10 hours played. LOL And the “do as intended” comment? That really makes you seem like a corporate chill. Why don’t you give your wallet to Nintendo already? But yeah, lets ban everyone that plays “pirated” games, even if they bought the original game and are simply trying to preserve their own stuff! It’s people with that kind of mindset that make it difficult to preserve media in the long term… “Digital only” delivery is already a big enemy as it is on preservation, with companies pulling the plug and people losing access to their paid content, but with this kind of mindset, that will really help in the future, for sure…
that “game backup” argument, I’m so tired of hearing that pathetic excuse. I can assure you that more than 90% of hacked switch users are using it to pirate games. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no angel either, my vita and 3ds are hacked, the difference is that those are old systems and no developer is planning their future releases considering the revenue they get on those platforms.
Oh yeah, of course it is more than proven that piracy is actually good for sales. So I guess that Nintendo went out of their way to fix the original console vulnerability just to lose money, right? Hey.. they would have made much more money by just leaving piracy enabled!! I have to admit, I can’t really make out if you are brain dead or just a regular 2020 social media know it all. Go conquer the world, champ.
Because I like to share my games with my SO and having one of our consoles as a primary and the other as a secondary means one of the consoles needs to be online to play the games. Just no, I’m interested in this just so I can bypass that limitation and play the games I own. I also want to be able to backup and swap our save files depending on who’s console we’re using. I don’t see why I can’t have my Animal Crossing profile on my switch only. We have a Switch and a Switch Lite. I like to play AC on the TV but also on the way to school and there’s no reason why this is a limitation. It’s people with narrow minds who see hacks and exploits as piracy only. There are lots of reasons that require a hack such as this that aren’t all about piracy. And “I don’t have a great salary” is ignoring those that underaged and their family’s banded together to buy a console and can’t afford every game. Not everyone has a salary.
I have 4 Nintendo switches, one for each household member with an extra that is online only. We use only one legit for online. The rest are modded. I purchase games to play online but most games I own in steam that my family will only play on the switch itself. It is nice not repurchasing 4 copies of games that I already owned. Any major first party is usually still purchased for online play. But the modded consoles allow us to use the games as we please.
Perhaps I am a minority, perhaps you disagree still with our decision but I am very thankful for the modding community which allow us to play how we want to play. If my youngest wants to play BOTW with unlimited stamina/health or if I want to backup our families SSBU progress and disperse it to everyone, it is possible, regardless of which profile we are using on which console.
In short, I’ve still spent 1k-1.5k on entertainment. I think that justifies being able to do what I damn well please.
>Banned if online
That doesnt happen anymore with emummc and incognito/alternatives. Theres even ban protection on sxos.

A modded Switch can bring you so much more than just pirated games. I want to mod my Switch Lite mainly for emulation. Piracy won’t hurt future releases, that’s ***, it was easy to hack a DS at the time by simply using a Linker, literally anybody could do it, and it didn’t the DS games market, they still sold tons of them, literally. The first Switch models were easily hackable, and it didn’t hurt Nintendo, nor the Switch games market.
Paying these guys instead of paying the game makers sounds like a really stupid idea. To use vulnerabilities in a console to play some games you wouldnt be buying anyway is cool, but paying a kind of parasite in-between to do so is totally off imho.
The developers make heaps of money, it won’t hurt to take a bit from them 🙂
I hope this really hurts nintendo…. bring on the piracy!
did you said Greedtendo?
This is going to hurt Nintendo.

Not everything is about piracy. I just want to see some good homebrew and to stream PC games and Plex to switch
