JSRFMP: A game that revives a classic game in its own way.
Hello everyone, today I’m gonna talk about a little different than usual. Today I’ll talk about a project that has really taken my interest these last few weeks. That game is called Jet Set Radio Future Multi Player (or JSRFMP for short). The game takes inspiration mainly from the multiplayer portion of the original game that focuses on racing the game’s maps with other people.
The game is made and maintained by a fellow called screenracer and after an interview with him, this is what he told me.
Below you’ll find my interview with the guy exactly how we had it. (Italic letters are me, normal letters is screenracer.)
It was originally just gonna be a project for me and my school friends to play during school breaks, I was never gonna release it tbh
but one of my friends (red_w1re in discord) suggested I should post it to gamejolt. I was hesitant at first since I have really bad social anxiety, and I didn’t think people would like the game tbh, but I posted it,
It was still originally just going to be a one and done thing, I wasn’t gonna release another update or anything. I was just gonna release it and then move onto other projects, but then it started getting a lot of attention, and this is like, the second game I released publicly.
None of my other games got much attention at all so I decided to keep working on it, since people actually really enjoyed it to my surprise
I see. Is there anything in particular you want to do with the direction of the game?
Or additions?
Like streaming JSR.L from the game? (JSR.L is a music streaming website that is largely inspired by Jet Set Radio, the pirate radio station in game.)
well I do plan on adding more PVE modes, like a coop campaign for example mod support will also be in there eventually and I already started work on an ingame level editor, which’ll be pretty cool.
Some people suggested having the level editor out of game though, so i’m not sure yet. Really, I just wanna have fun with everyone. I just wanna turn this into a game that anyone can dive into and have some fun with

I heard sega doesn’t mind fan games though so I think I should be fine
