Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 for the 3DS gets a translation to English! – Enjoy this sequel in language that you can actually read.
For whatever reason or just for no reason at all, some games, even popular ones, don’t get translated to English so anyone who doesn’t read Japanese is left out in the cold. Fortunately, this isn’t the case for Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 since it got an English translation by the 3DS community thanks to a dedicated lot over there!
What is Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3?
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 is an RPG, by Square Enix and Tose, that’s a part of the Dragon Quest series (which has titles, like Dragon Quest Builders, on other platforms such as the PSVita/PS4/PS3/Switch) and is the successor to DQM: Joker 2. It was released in Japan in late March 2016 but it unfortunately didn’t get translated to English even though, curiously enough, DQM: Joker and Joker 2 did. This meant that the Western players who were into the franchise were left without a sequel!
Now, thanks to the combined efforts of some talented modders from the 3DS hacking community, the game is finally localised into English so we Westerns can enjoy it without the help of videos (or learning Japanese).
Great! What got translated?
According to the release thread of this patch, the whole game got translated. This means that the following got translated:
- The menus; quite important since you need to know what you’re doing while gaming!
- The custom font.
- The story and NPC dialogues.
- In-game image translations.
- The network portion of the game so networking is supported.
- Some monsters/items never used in English releases got translated too so the team made sure you won’t be encountering any Japanese!
As you can see, the team behind this did lots of work so that we in the West get a good experience so you surely won’t be disappointed with it.
The modders that made this translation possible are Z6n4, JasonPK, Mami,FailSnail, ErdrickTheHero and some others!
Conclusion
To get this on your 3DS, you need a console running Luma CFW and some time so that you could patch the game yourself. Do note that the instructions are somewhat lengthy so make sure you read them once or twice so that you understand exactly what you’re doing! This is not for the Professional version of the game!
If you have any issues, report them on the GBATemp thread linked below! Happy gaming.. in English 🙂

How can I run this in Citra?

Meh, I’d rather someone translated the PSX remakes of 1&2 personally.
the big question its: So hard its translate the Professional version? Why translaate a basic version existing a more complete one? U need amonth or two more… ok isnt a big real but at least u translate a better game.
They started the original translation before Professional came out, ***.
