Voice Recorder Vita released by VitaHEX! – Sleek and simple voice recorder for your Vita
While the Vita has its own fair share of cool homebrew, it is a tad lacking in ‘essential’ homebrew. By ‘essential’, I mean applications you find preloaded on your smartphone such as a notes application, voice recorder and so on which you may need to use for everyday life tasks. Thanks to VitaHEX, the Vita got Voice Recorder Vita added to its homebrew collection!
What’s Voice Recorder Vita?
Voice Recorder Vita is an application that’s similar to the ‘Voices memos’ application you could find on your iOS/Android smartphone. It offers the following features:
- A clean dark UI with a few essential buttons such as record, stop and an option to list your recordings.
- A recording manager that allows you to listen to your recordings and delete them. Recordings are created in the WAV format so they could be played back on virtually every device.
- The recordings have a maximum length of 30 seconds but they can be cut off before by pressing the stop button. I’d say that 30 seconds is a tad too short, I would have preferred a 5 minute maximum so that you could more easily record yourself singing a whole song or reading some text.
- Recordings are stored in ux0:/data/Recordings so they can be easily copied off the PSVita via USB/FTP.
Remember, the microphone (on the Vita Fat at least) is located below the warranty sticker which is found a little behind the charging port. The microphone’s quality won’t win any awards but it’s good enough to do some short recordings! This homebrew was
written in LPP so special thanks go to Rinnegatamante.
Conclusion
To get this homebrew, you can download the VPK from the link below. It’s available on VitaDB but it crashes VHBB for me when I try to check it out so I opted to download it via my iPad (you may use another smartdevice or a computer) and transfer to my Vita via FTP. I personally recommend putting this homebrew onto your Vita as it’s an application that Sony should have included in the first place and it could prove useful if you’re out and about with only your Vita on hand!
