How to manually updating your older PS Vita firmware to system software 3.60 (for the HENkaku Ensō CFW)
The HENkaku Ensō Custom Firmware has been released a few hours, but it requires your PS Vita device to run a specific firmware, the system software 3.60.
While PS Vitas that are currently running firmware 3.61, 3.63 or 3.65 are totally out of luck, there’s hope for the devices that run a lower firmware.
It is possible to manually update a PS Vita (be it a fat or a slim) to a specific firmware version, if one uses (for example) QCMA as a tool to fool the PS Vita into thinking that the desired firmware is the most recent version (this does not work for downgrades, just saying).
Only a few things are required to update a PS Vita, that is running an older system software, to the desired firmware 3.60. These things are a computer, QCMA and the firmware 3.60 update files. You will need your PS Vita and its USB cable as well.
Simply follow the instructions that are given in the video (linked above), and it should be possible to manually update your PS Vita to firmware 3.60, which in return enables you to use the newly released HENkaku Ensō Custom Firmware.
QCMA should be compatible with all older PS Vita firmwares, as long as QCMA’s settings are properly configured.
In case you are using a PS TV (also known as a PS Vita TV), simply drop the firmware updater file (take the PSP2UPDAT.PUP from the 3.60 OFW zip, rename it into PSVUPDAT.PUP and then follow these instructions) onto a regular memory stick, launch your PS TV’s recovery mode and select firmware update via USB device.
Just be sure to use this firmware updater file, DO NOT use the PSVUPDAT.PUP file from the Sony website!
The simpler DNS method described on /r/vitahacks still works, right? 🙂
Yea, that one should still work.
I didn’t even know about the DNS method (had been busy in the previous year), so I shared the method that was previously used (via QCMA).
My bad :/
U crazy dude? Talking to yourself is not healthy …
You don’t know what your saying…
Wait, wasn’t talking to you, I was talking to myself… 😛
I guess the DNS method does not work if forced formatting is required, am I right?
lol i just posted how to do the same thing in http://wololo.net/2017/07/29/release-henkaku-enso-custom-firmware-ps-vita/
a minute ago for fixing os modified erorr
Shame that i my case for testing purpose there is no way to reinstall 3.60 firmware :/
I am at 3.60 but wanna try to reinstall fw in order to check if my problem is fw related.
You can fully reinstall FW 3.60 via the PS Vita’s recovery mode.
Yifan lu DNS Metod very easy, public plis.sorry my inglish.
Now how do we block future updates?
Keep the DNS IP address used on Yifan’s DNS method and you’re safe.
Wish an identical method existed for 3DS, would be easier to update to a specific firmware version.
Is it just me, or is the “ō” in this article bold?
If it actually is, it’s probably because he copied and pasted it from somewhere else.
Do you know who else wrote it in bold? Aurora.
Aurora==The Zett confirmed for Smash 4?
The blog’s font doesn’t natively support the ō, so it falls back onto another font that contains it (thus it looking weird).
The same applies to when you use cyrillic script or the ẞ character in blog posts.
Does it include a grammar checker? Obviously not, tollolloll.

Does the DNS method still work, actually? I tried it but it keeps trying to update me to 3.65
any other links for the update? it’s super slow like 10-30KB/s.. then stops halfway.. then i redownload again from start.. thank you..
Aurora is not the Zett.
Aurora is italian and the Zett is german.
I have seen aurora writing in perfect italian on her twitter and the zett writing in perfect german.
Here’s a link to the DNS method of updating which is much simpler.
