What should you know before HENkaku Ensō lands!
HENkaku Ensō, by Team Molecule, should land today or tomorrow depending on the country you live in. You’ll probably be too hyped up to read anything after it’s out so this article serves the purpose of getting you up to speed with what HENkaku Ensō does or doesn’t do before it lands.
What is HENkaku Ensō?
HENkaku Ensō is like an untethered jailbreak for your PSVita. This means that you don’t have to reapply taiHEN/HENkaku every time you reboot your PSVita. This is very useful for HENkaku users as it saves you time from installing the hack every time you boot up your Vita and it also means that you can use your PSVita’s homebrew straight away when you boot it up. This will make HENkaku/taiHEN like a real CFW that we used to see in the PSP days. You will also be able to use your microSD from an SD2Vita adapter at boot time apparently. HENkaku Ensō should work on the Vita FAT, Vita Slim and the PSTV.
Installing HENkaku Ensō will probably require you to install a VPK that installs the installer itself. The installer will probably guide you itself so it shouldn’t be too hard for you to install. Simply make sure the VPK is from a trusted source and that it’s the PROPER version not an older version if you get it from another website since older versions were much more unstable and could even brick your console. The build date should be somewhere around July 29th 2017 (maybe July 28th).
The release time will probably be based on PDT so if you’re in Europe, it’ll land in the morning of July 30th; if you’re further East, it’ll land towards midday of July 30th. If you’re concerned about HENkaku Ensō damaging your system, wait a little while (a few hours) before installing it to see if any problems crop up for other users.
What HENkaku Ensō is not?
Many PSVita community members have asked various questions about HENkaku Ensō so these are the answers to some so that nobody asks any silly questions when the software lands.
- HENkaku Ensō ONLY works on PSVita firmware 3.60. It doesn’t work with firmware 3.61 or higher; if you have an older firmware, update to firmware 3.60 via various different methods.
- It will not let you play games meant for a higher firmware either!
- You also won’t be able to play dumped games for higher firmware versions so forget about that.
- PSN spoofing won’t be affected by HENkaku Ensō.
- Unless someone creates something else, you won’t be able to run any other OS (like Android – which probably will never be ported to Vita as it’s not worthit) or a higher version of OFW on your PSVita with HENkaku Ensō installed.
- HENkaku Ensō will probably not be bug-free from the get go so wait some time if you’re really scared about losing even a bit of data
- HENkaku Ensō won’t give your PSVita superpowers!
Conclusion
That is it! Now, all you have to do is wait a little while for HENkaku Ensō to launch and pray that there aren’t any major issues. You can also follow Yifan Lu on Twitter to get the latest updates.

jk
if i install enso, and then update the psvita to 3.65, i will lose henkaku enso?
Yes, you will
Not only you will loose it but you will never be able to install it anymore.
Not first!
Anyone remember the days on wololo site when you had to wait for ninja exploit releases for the psv? Now we have Henkaku which is better than ark and tn-v, it was released exactly one year ago on 7-29-16 and we also have sd2vita storage now. What a lot of progress since then. Thanks Deva
If I install Enso, will it let me play PS5 games? 😀
Read the article!! I said no superpowers haha 🙂 That means no PS5 games!
I love his question… hahahaa
But what about PS Vita games?
I downloaded the vpk from the henkaku website, but when it tries to install it says os0 is modified and to download and reinstall 3.60 pup.
same happened for me, just let it do its thing and you shouldn’t lose any of your data on your sdcard.
just fixed it awhile ago,had to redownload the pup through the app and enso installed : )
ENZO INSTALLED! 😀
Bob! Glitch still isn’t working…
It would be great if CF Vitas, in a few months, would be able to run games above 3.60.
A man can dream.
Looks like it’s available!
its available! i installed and it works.
just installed. the sonyplaystation boot is changed to enso. I tested for the begining and nothing is happenned. I need more in order to confirm everything is fine. currently I’m giving the installed and test booting is good 100%. total I trust is 75% the rest is as I said need more testing.
woohoo! enso is installed and working perfectly with psvsd drivers loading my 256 gig micro sd!
Can Ensō gives me ability to set up and use a vita2sd adapter without an orignal vita memory card. (Mine vita card died long time ago)
Yes if it’s 2k or tv since it has 1gb internal memory.
My fault. I just realized that without a vita memory card, there will be no molecular shell show up after henkaku enabled
You still can borrow a memory card just to install enso and drivers for the sdcard.
No superpowers for my PS Vita, ok 🙁
PD: Greeting from Perú
Works like a charm, pretty incredible piece of software!
Well Enso installed succesfully here thanks to hackinformer for the link.
Current build date is July 23rd.
Have fun, people. It works great.
Ensou is simultaneously the most exciting and least exciting thing to happen on the Vita scene. 😛
Use “Paste as plain text,” you noob.
Had for both Vita and PSTV to update the 3.60 PUP. Installing the pup on the PSTV resulted a blackscreen, but just let it do its work.
After that installing enso works fine.
good news
I was wondering how will enso be updated? henkakuis alwas updated to the latest version when you reactivate it using online, how enso gonna be updated? download a updated vpk every now and then???
It’s already available!
This is another Aurora’s failed article…
I don’t think it’s failed. I can’t anticipate the release time. It was up for hours before the release article so I think it was still useful as an informative article.
It’s journalism, you can’t say something is failed when the writer doesn’t have the release time at hand.
Hardly! I won’t be able to install enso for a couple weeks and reading this article is very informative to me, but in the interest of full disclosure I’m a fan of Aurora’s posts so I may be biased 😉
>> It will not let you play games meant for a higher firmware either!
>> You also won’t be able to play dumped games for higher firmware versions so forget about that.
* Is there any possibility at present to run games with higher firmware? even with a different tool or offline installer, etc? or it will just be impossible with all?
>> This will make HENkaku/taiHEN like a real CFW that we used to see in the PSP days
* Do you know the name of a permanent CFW for the PSP GO? I had one installed but I had to relaunch it with every reboot, I didn’t manage to see a permanent one…
Try installing dave’s infinity
Hola Aurora, podrías escribir un tutorial para los usuarios que hemos instalado Enso, resulta que a mi me ha dejado de funcionar ds4vita.
I have a new in box psTV. Will the activation issue prevent me from be able to install enso (I plan to play a handful of vita games and use adrenaline for ps1/psp games)
Did the non permanent Henkaku allow you to play games that required firmware above 3.60?
How can i deinstall Henkaku Enso, for example i want to “legalize” my vita again, it is posible?
