Online PSVita Minecraft Texture Pack Converter released
Not everybody likes default stuff and Minecraft has always given its players the choice how they wish to play it. Console versions are more restrictive but thanks to the texture pack converter, you’ll be able to take Minecraft on your PSVita to a new level 🙂
What’s the PSVita Minecraft texture pack converter?
As the name suggests, it converts texture packs for the PC version of Minecraft (the full fledged Java one NOT the Windows 10 version) for use with the PSVita version of Minecraft. It requires the following things to function:
- A dumped version of Minecraft. You may dump your own version, which is recommended of course.
- A PSVita/PSTV on 3.60 (quite obvious) with taiHEN.
- A Minecraft 1.8 or newer texture pack that you’d like to convert to the Vita.
- A little common sense would really help!
The website creates a zip file with the texture pack. After extracting it, you need to place the contents of it in the TitleUpdate folder in your PSVita’s Minecraft GameData folder. That’s about it!
An example directory is: ux0:app/PCSE00491/Common/res/TitleUpdate/. PCSE00491 may different so choose your Minecraft game folder on your Vita.
Conclusion
This is a really cool addon to the Vita’s hack library in my opinion since the Vita is the only console that lets you use your own texture packs in Minecraft. The website (linked to below) uses a method that already exists for converting texture packs but it was deemed too complicated by the creator. Make sure you report any issues to developer “darkenvy” of Reddit. Thanks to the website, you don’t need to mess around with Linux or OS X compiling. It’s recommended you choose texture packs closest to 16×16 as that’s what the convertor translates the packs to.

Now that’s properly thanking people unlike Tonbo who’s an ingrate f.
lol. 360 has been able to use custom texture packs via JTAG / TGH even from before the initial release (using the leaked version). I liked your article I just wanted to point out that other consoles including the PS3 and 360 can use custom packs.
