You can now read every article related to the GekiHEN Contest by simply clicking here. Hopefully this will be a great reference point for all of you who haven’t been following the contest closely enough.
A new month has started and nothing could be a better sign than starting with a new Vita release. This release sees developer Rinnegatamante return to the fray with an extension of his own application rinCheat. The purpose of rinCheat SE is to allow players to inject cheats into your savedata without the need to have the game running and change stuff on-the-fly. rinCheat SE also serves as a database updater for the original rinCheat since it updates the cheat databse every time you start it. This application can manipulate saves exported either by the original rinCheat or Vita Save Manager.
What is rinCheat SE?
rinCheat SE is a stand-alone, vpk version of the popular cheat plugin rinCheat. Instead of manipulating the data on-the-fly like the plugin version does, rinCheat SE injects any cheats you want to use into your exported save data (either by rinCheat or Vita Save Manager). You can see all the supported games by clicking here and checking the savedata tab. It also fuctions as a database updater for regular rinCheat.
Features
- Apply cheats to your savedata with few steps and without any knowledge
- Supports both rinCheat and vita-savemgr natively
- Supports CRC32 checksum patch if needed
- Supports multi-offsets cheats
- Auto-updates rinCheat and rinCheat SE databases at startup
Why the homebrew is marked as unsafe? This is needed for game title extraction from SFO files.
Credits
- A huge thanks to Slade for providing tons of cheats (95% of the cheats in the database are made by him) and for testing the homebrew
- gnmmarechal for testing the homebew

I feel like this is cheating. I may be alone in that way of thinking but I definitely feel like this is cheating lol.

Well I meant that I think it’s cheating the contest… but I guess it’s cheating all around lol
XD
An error occurred:
[string “?”]:440: attempt to get length of a nil value (local ‘test_dir’)
I have tried this with PCSE00786 Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel Savedata but, it’s the undub version is that the the reason?
Yep, gotta put up with the English voices man. 😛
that isnt true im using the undub version and its working fine for me
whats wrong with English voices
Me too I have an error:
– Main sceen “No savedata found”
– When I press X, 2nd screen: Error occured String[?]: 430 attempt to index a nil value (field ‘?’)
will it work on cart-based games?
You need to have save dumps in order for rinCheat SE to modify. Along with the cheat file that tells SE what to modify. If no one has written a cheat file, you can’t modify the game. Unless you go out and write your own.
What is the benefit of this over Gohanmem? I’ll admit I haven’t used RinCheat since it’s initial release but it wasn’t nearly as useful as Gohanmem. Has anything changed?
This is a save editor, not a ram editor.
It patches save files to give you “stuff”, you then import the save back in and you’ve got “stuff”. Personally I find it easier to work with that ram editing.
string 440: attempt to get length of a nil value (local ‘test_dir’) im trying to selectgenkai tokki moe chronicle and muramasa rebirth. always getting this why???? anyone can help?
Yeah I’m trying to use it on on PCSE00119 (Ragnarok Odyssey) and PCSE00019 (Dragon’s Crown), both of which I have checked are covered. But all the save files I’ve exported using Savemgr 0.8.0 come up as Unknown Game, and give the exact same error:
[string “?”]:440: attempt to get length of a nil value (local ‘test_dir’)
Please help me out if you can, I’m so excited to use this software! 🙂
