Today is the day of translation releases: first we get a partial patch for the definitive edition of Dengeki Bunko and now we get a translation patch for Kancolle Kai. Once again, this is the work of people over at the GBATemp forums (however, this time it’s an entire team instead of a group of 1-2 users) and they’ve been hard at work on this for a while. While this is a preliminary version, they have already done a lot of work and according to them, here is a list of all that’s translated:

Ship Names, Types and Dialogue, Equipment, All of the blue tutorial screens (First time players), 182 out of 207 of the Quests, All of the Stages, Combat Engagements, Main Menu, Quick Menu, Furniture Selection/Shop buttons, Quest buttons, Factory Buttons, Organizer buttons, Refit buttons, Practice buttons, Resupply buttons, And some extra translations.

There are still more things that need to be translated like the expeditions (will be translated in the 0.3 release soon) so we will be updating the patches as we go along with the translations.

They took a while to release the first versions of this to the public due to the fact they would have had to share the entire game to do so. Now they have an automated installer that will do all of the legwork without having to share an entire copy of the game to share their work with others. With this installer comes the first public release that we can all enjoy.

What is Kancolle Kai?

Kancolle (short for Kantai Collection) is a very popular Japanese browser game developed by Kadokawa Games. It is a “fleet-raising” game where you collect girls who are human versions of World War II naval warships. You send them out on missions, have battles to grind experience, craft tons of upgrades along with many other things. The game was a success in Japan which saw it eventually ported to the PS Vita. However, this being a very Japanese type of game, it never saw a Western release. Now, thanks to Vita translators, we get to enjoy this game too!

How-to use this patch

1. Your Vita on version 3.60
2. Henkaku & VitaShell Installed on your Vita
3. Have 300 mb of free space on your Vita
4. Already have the game installed on your Vita
5. At least open the game once and make it to the Title Screen.
6. Install and open the patcher and let it do its thing.
