PS4 Firmware 4.05, suspiciously released after 4.01 Jailbreak demo
Yesterday, Chinese hackers demonstrated a PS4 Jailbreak on PS4 firmware 4.01, at a big security event in Shanghai. Today, Sony pushed firmware update 4.05 on the PS4. It feels like the timing is not coincidental.
PS4 4.05 – What’s in there?
As always with minor updates, this suspiciously looks like this version patches some critical vulnerability of the PS4 System. In Sony’s words:
This system software update improves the quality of the system performance.
There’s no confirmation at the moment if firmware 4.05 patches any vulnerability, and there is not enough confirmation for now if the Jailbreak announced yesterday for 4.01 is real, and to what level it is related to this 4.05 PS4 System Update. The people behind the alleged 4.01 Jailbreak, however, have stated that they will disclose their exploit to Sony. This could have already happened and would be an explanation for this new firmware update.

It goes without saying, but at this point we suggest you do not update to 4.05, at least until details on the 4.01 Jailbreak are made clearer.

no you’re not
Id rather not be the first to update.
Well..To be honest. Chaiten have either reported this to Sony or Sony have been spying on such exploits on the kernels, and have been developing patches way before the release. I believe its the latter, which is why current updates, even on the 3DS are released and block ‘in development’ exploits.
I’m on version 4.01 but 4.05 I ready to install is there any way to remove this?
I’m impressed, I have to admit. Genuinely rarely should i encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you may have hit the nail about the head. Your idea is outstanding; the problem is an element that insufficient persons are speaking intelligently about. I am delighted we came across this during my look for something with this.
