Heart of the Alien v1.0 for PS Vita (GekiHEN Contest Entry)
Considering that a little over a week ago on my latest GekiHEN Wishlist article, I was talking about how surprised I was that the game Another World had a sequel that very few people were aware of since it came out on the infamous Sega CD/Mega CD and linked to a possible source code port that could help us play that game on actual modern platforms, you can’t imagine my surprise when I noticed that this particular release almost flew under my radar. Brought to us by developer usineur – the same person who brought us Prince of Persia – he used as a base the Pandora port by GitHub user M-HT which he then updated from SDL 1.2 to SLD 2.0. Thanks to him, more people can now enjoy the sequel barely anyone knows exists.
What is Heart of the Alien?
Heart of the Alien is the direct sequel to the popular cult classic Another World that got washed away into obscurity because of the platform it was released on. It is a direct sequel to that game, taking place immediately after the events of that game, however this time you take control of your alien friend from the first game. One of the few ways to play that game has been on PC via a port that was created but abandoned before all the bugs were ironed out. Thankfully for us, usineur found a bug-fixed repository for the Pandora and based his work on that.
