VitaShell 1.2, media export added
On a day of non-stop releases and updates, another very popular homebrew got a major milestone update: VitaShell. As per usual, TheFloW is hard at work on his main application that went from a file browser to resembling more the mythical iRShell by adding media player capabilities and this updates gives VitaShell a few more features like exporting of photo and music and battery percentage information.
What is VitaShell?
VitaShell is a file manager and FTP server for the PS Vita (and now a music player too!), which can be used as a replacement for molecularShell in HENkaku. the molecularShell distributed with HENkaku is actually a fork of VitaShell. VitaShell won the Revitalize competition last year. With each update developer TheFloW brings it closer and closer to resembling the PSP’s mythical application iRShell.
Changelog for VitaShell 1.2

To download the latest VitaShell version, all you have to do is head to the developer’s GitHub and grab the latest release. The direct link is also available here.
Enjoy the release everyone!

Thank you for adding the battery percentage feature, I actually downloaded the source from your GitHub last night and was planning on adding the feature myself, but now I dont need to =D, awesome!
OH and just read the “VitaShell will now remove the unused updater bubble after successful updating.” part, I guess you found a way to do it =D. In the end was it very difficult to do the bubble removal? I remember you mentioning on twitter that you couldnt just remove a bubble.
Anyways awesome that you got it done =D. Love your work *thumbs up*.
I’m thinking we need hex editor functionality next.
It’s already a feature…
LoL
how can i add music background for vitashell? tanx
For what I know web can’t this far, I really hoped so but seems like there wasn’t enough people asking for it.
Awesome as always, thank you.
I’ve got Henkaku from Sept 11th, that won’t update to Henkaku R6 which was mentioned on Sept 13th, when going to the website. It keeps just pulling in the Sept 11th version.
I’ve also got the vitashell 0.95, that doesn’t update either.
Anyone got any ideas?
Same here I think. Of course the work of our hackers is superb but would like to see apps updating by some automatic method. Just dreaming. I’m lazy and don’t have too much time to be every week pluging my vita on my pc and updating apps…
Well, Henkaku is suppose to update, when visiting the website. Vitashell is suppose to update itself from 0.9.1 onwards.
PS: Yes it’s great what these people can do. I wish I can the same sort of skill. They just could do with a middle man to explain the “simple stuff” to noobs like me!! LOL
Toolbox not work?
@VitaNoob delete moecular shell and vita shell and then reinstall henkaku
Thank you! That’s fixed Vitashell, but there’s still no mention of Henkaku R6, it still installs from the 11th. I guess it’s suppose to be that way. It just confused me is all, because there’s no actual mention of R6.
To know what Henkaku ur on, goto settings system info and If it says -6 at the end that is R6 build you’re on.
I want to know if Henkaku is supposed to automatically update to 1.2? I was asked if I wanted to update to the latest Vitashell the last update.
Ah, it that case, I bet I already had R6, since the date of the installer hasn’t changed from before. Vitashell was suppose to update itself after 0.9.1 to 0.9.5. With the fresh install I did of Henkaku, it downloaded Vitashell 0.9.9, which then updated itself to 1.2.
Thanks 🙂
IRshell was so good! Nethost stream game from pc, 2 app or game easy switch, use your own music on game, capacity to add favorite homebrew to the shell and more. Miss that one
As it appears, this latest version of VitaShell will not install if also using the previous version of itself (version 1.1). VitaShell does not seem to update itself this way. It will give out an error code.
To properly install this, use Molecular Shell instead.
