VitaShell 1.0, now with Music Player functions
It has been an eternity since I reported on a VitaShell update, which is weird considering I was the first to break the news about it and be excited when version 0.1 was sent to me via a /talk/ PM message. To see it reach version 1.0 in about a year is amazing and also extremely heartening to me and with something coming in the next few days, I may just revamp and bring back homebrew wishlists this month too. All of this is great news!
What is VitaShell?
VitaShell is a file manager and FTP server for the PS Vita (and now a music player too!), which can be used as a replacement for molecularShell in HENkaku. the molecularShell distributed with HENkaku is actually a fork of VitaShell. VitaShell won the Revitalize competition last year.
Changelog VitaShell 1.0
- Added audio player with .MP3 and .OGG support (Press /\ to turn off the display while listening to music. Graphics by Valle).
- Added changelog to the VitaShell bubble (press /\ or hold the bubble of VitaShell in the livearea).
- Added ability to resume to the directory you’ve last visted before exiting VitaShell).
- Leaving to livearea or suspending the device does now no longer corrupt an IO process anymore (while copying things you can leave now VitaShell and resume).
- Improved text editor and added search feature to context menu (press /).
- Fixed bug where copying to different partitions didn’t work.
This is a pretty good number of changes, all things considered (as in, what else is there to add?) so I wouldn’t be surprised if 1.0 was the last version. Hopefully it won’t be however! The addition of a music player is a welcome addition as the Vita’s built-in one is pretty damn lackluster in terms of features. If this gets more updates, it would be cool if we could easily change tracks by pressing L and R and that would turn off all keys except the PS Button so you can’t interrupt your music enjoyment while walking or running.
Download VitaShell 1.0
To download the latest VitaShell version, all you have to do is head to the developer’s GitHub and grab the latest release. I’ll put the direct link here as usual for the lazy.
Enjoy the release everyone and happy gaming!

first
yep . im second b#tches
Running with the vita?
Hahaha yeah I thought that would be hard too. Considering the size of the Vita.
Don’t we all have some sort of mp3 player for that. Dedicated or in a phone?
Inb4 “I want PSP/PS1” so do it for me pl0x.
I want psp/ps1, thanks 😉
Nice.. got it and it amazing 3rd btw
Aaaall right. Music player. Fine. It lacks GPS, calendar, Excel compatibility and Amiga emulation to be a perfect file manager, however. *sigh* What a weird choice from a weird developer. Dual-panel for fast operations would have been much more useful but, well, that’s HIS code, he may bloat it as much as he wants.
Shut up and be thankful this even exists.
Not gonna happen.
How about YOU make your own code? Instead doing nothing but sarcasm, your whole existence is sarcasm anyway.
Sorry for hurting your feelings, sugar.
haha, good one XDD loL lmao haha
error 0x80101114
Solved
how did you solve it? im getting Error 0x80101111 ( im pretty sure thats what it was)
Install via molecularshell 🙂
I’d like to know how you solved it too please.
Could someone please upload the sce_sys folder in MLCL00001 for me? I manually updated VitaShell in molecularShell by copying everything from VitaShell.vpk but forgot to backup the sce_sys folder in MLCL00001 so now all the icons and background images of molecularShell become VitaShell’s one. I tried to install Henkaku again but the sce_sys folder in MLCL00001 still doesn’t change back to the original one.
Here you are.

I guess you could as well uninstall MolecularShell, wipe your MLCL00001 folder and re-install HENkaku.
Wow thanks a lot mate!
Lovely to see VitaShell constantly updated, but i’d much rather have FTP Client functionality instead of Music Player. we already have our phones for that.
Thought this might be pushed through the auto-updater…..
Yeah, I thought it would have been auto-updated by now…
