How to: manually updating to PS Vita firmware 3.60
Lots of people are asking how to update to firmware 3.60 without the risk of going “too far” to firmware 3.63 or above. Asking your PS Vita by default will only give you firmware 3.63 (or above), so we have to be a bit sneaky. There are lots of tutos out there including here on wololo.net, but they are a bit outdated. So here’s one dedicated to firmware 3.60.
Note that this tutorial is about upgrading to firmware 3.60, not downgrading to it! If you’ve installed firmware 3.61, 3.63, or above, you’re pretty much sc*** for now and will have to wait until a new hack is released for the PS Vita. This tutorial applies to people who are currently on lower firmwares and want to go up to firmware 3.60.
Updating your PS Vita to firmware 3.60, the easy and safe way
Yifan Lu, one of the authors of HENkaku, wrote a system on the HENkaku servers to help you simply upgrade to firmware 3.60:
Set your DNS to 212.47.229.76 and choose to update from Wi-Fi. Proceed only if the message says “A new version of the system software is available. Firmware 3.60 (変革 Compatible)”. That’s it!
If you’re having issues with this easy way, check the detailed steps at the source here.
Old technique to update your PS vita to firmware 3.60
If, for some reason, the technique above does not work for you, you can still use the “older” and more complex technique, described below:
We’re basically tricking the PS vita into thinking it found the latest update on our PC through the use of QCMA.
- Download the PS Vita 3.60 firmware from this page.
- If you own a PS TV, stop here and check the official process to get an update from a USB Key (you basically need to copy PSVUPDAT.PUP to a folder named PSVITA/UPDATE/ on your usb key). You’re done.
- Download and install QCMA (you’ll need that tool a lot now that firmware 3.60 is mpot the latest version!)
- The firmware you downloaded is named PSVUPDAT.PUP. Rename it to PSP2UPDAT.PUP
- Copy the file into your QCMA Updates Folder (you can see that folder by launching QCMA and opening the settings). On windows that’s typically c:\users\[your username]\Documents\PSV Updates
- Download this file and put it into the Updates folder as well. (link down? Try this one)
- Important: This file is for the us version of the PS Vita. For other regions, you will need to update the xml and replace <region id=”us”> with <region id=”xx”> where “xx” is your region. You can do this with any text editor.
- On your PS Vita, make sure to go into airplane mode in the settings.
- Launch QCMA from your PC, then plug in your PS Vita via USB.
- In the Vita’s Settings, go to System Update, and Update from PC
- Triple check that the update says Firmware 3.60, and nothing else (in particular not firmware 3.61/3.63, or anything above 3.60!)
- Update!

Note for those of you who have downloaded (but not installed yet) firmware 3.61/3.63, or anything above 3.60: you can allegedly delete it from the bubble at the corner of your PS Vita. Then reboot and you should be good to start this tutorial.
You say, We need modify the région if we are not in Us ? I ‘am french the région is EU
???
This doesn’t work it says the latest version of the software is already installed
Just try to update in recovery mode! work for me to reinstall 3.60
where do u put the update on your pc?
Wored for me! …after i changed the region to “eu” …many thx!
Could you tell me please how u downloaded XML file ?? bcs on my PC it open a site that there is a CODE and i tried to copy that code into notepad/wordpad fiels changed region and still says that i’m running the latest firmware
Try and just right-click the link and select “Save as…”, it should automatically show you a window that let’s you save the file already with the .xml extension (or you could open a notepad, paste the “CODE” in it, and save it as “psp2-updatelist.xml”)
Thank you!! This just saved me a ton of headache.

HIDDEN STEP PROCESS IF IT DOESNT WORK FOR YOU !!!! You also need to put the psp2-updatelist.xml in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Content Manager Assistant. after i did this it work right away !

I Don’t Understand The XML/ Text Part Can Someone Plz Help Me??
So, I’ve got a new Japanese PS Vita running 3.55, logged in with a US account, In the UK, What do I use? jp? uk? eu? us?
I’m so frickn stumped -_- I keep getting damn errors lol. Any help?
Try jp first and if it didn’t work you try us
I tried every region code even in recovery mode and it still says that the vita is already on the newest software.
:’-(
Okay I’ve tried a couple different ways not and i think I’m running into every problem haha but so far I’m gonna just keep trying out different regions:( any tips on this tutorial? I’ve been looking at old ones as well but this one just docent seam that well…
Some one please make a video? this tutorial is a little hard for beginners
I follow the steps but when I try to update i got (c0-11021-5) error then i tried to update from recovery then i got 3.60 update but when i hit Next i end up with “could not connect to the server” error !!!
Any hint guys 🙂
make sure your vita cable is inserted with the PS logo upwards
btw: i’m currently on 3.01 🙂
The xml link is down. and so is the alternative link. is there another place to get the file?
Do I just copy the text to notepad? someone plz help me out here i’m horrible at this kind of stuff.
There are a lot of steps missing from the tutorial. What do you name the txt file when you stick it in the PSVita folder. What ever I try I get the “you have the latest update” which is followed by the next prompt “update required”. QCMA crashes and quits automaticaly whenever I connect the USB. There are ton of problems I have run into….. and nobody explains nor know how to give detailed instructions on how to work through it. And there are not troubleshooting or FAQ pages that exist. I’ve tried changing regions and tweaking the code. Nothing works….. any help would deeply be appreciated.
Step #6 6.Download this file and put it into the Updates folder as well. (link down? Try this one)
Neither link is working. Can someone please fix this or ad new link. Thanx a ton for all the help.
Damn I was on like v1.8.x lol … worked fine after I changed the XML file to suit my region.
Thanks for this easy to follow tutorial !
The fiel is corrupt
C3-11038-3
=(
please let me know the solution if you find any
i’m also stuck same
Spent about half an hour trying to get this to work, had everything right. Only thing that seemed to be tossing me off from updating is that I’m running Windows 10. Kept getting errors, used QCMA in compatibility mode for Windows 7 and ran it as administrator finally let the Vita update to 3.60.
I suppose try that if you’re having issue with updating using this method.
I can confirm, you need to set QCMA to Windows 7 and Run as Administrator or it will not work in Windows 10!
If you have wrong region set in psp2-updatelist.xml you will get c3-14978-9 error or it wouldn’t connect to QCMA at all. MAKE SURE TO HAVE CORRECT REGION SET!
I followed the instructions and everything worked perfectly!
Thanks
for those taht XML link’s doesn’t work it’s bcs of google chrome or mozzila just right click save us and choose XML then change region and RDY to go !!!
Is there any hash check or SHA-2 thing we can do to make sure and to quadruple check that we really have firmware 3.60?
I always get Error
C0-11266-6
WHY?
nothing works, xml, file, no xml file, manual qcma settings, with running CMA, without it ( only qcma) windows 10, windows 7 nothing works, always and an error (various erroes, latest fw already installed, update cma …. )
please make fix qcma, make working tutorial ,step by step, power on vita, start cma, start qcma …..
my fw 3.36
I could not do the upgrade , I gave me error c3-10698-4 … edit the file:
psp2-updatelist.xml in the field region put :
and it worked for me !!! yeah
solved,
1. run only qcma
2. do not delete xml file on update folder
3. set region to us ( I think that mine is eu but it did not work with eu)
4. connect vita ( powered off)
5. start vita in recovery ( PS + R shoulder + power)
6. select update vita from PC ( from recovery menu)
7. success!!! update vita to FW 3.60 message apears
8. proceed
im getting error message c3-3822-5
how do i fix this?
region error
change us to eu
or eu to us
i cant even get it to show 3.60 in recovery mode anymore, and i have a US vita why would there be a region error?
Thank you, it worked!!
I had the error connecting as had the region set to ‘eu’ as I’m in the Uk. Set to ‘uk’ and it worked fine
I had same problems. The problem was my xml file. open this file and edit with textedit from OS X caused the failure message… after downloading the xml file via firefly (save file via context menu) and editing with notepad++ or Brackets the update worked.
I think all the update links are dead. Can someone repost it?
GOOOD no touch de name psvupdat.pup , next https://mega.nz/#!MBRwBZKQ!dBomwHK2xraBPQCaGNJgC952HCg-UQSsOePn5bZTsB0 is it file xml and replace region id for the you console ….EXAMPLE … UE,US,MX,CN ….EUROPA ,UNITED STATES, MEXICO,CHINA, ETC Y WORKING … example ,open you xml file whit wordpad …. in the region id ,choosen you region
i solve it
rest factory psvita from boot menu
