3DS Firmware update 10.7 is out, hackers advise not to update
The Latest 3DS Firmware 10.7 update is out, as of a few hours ago. 3DS scene hackers advise against updating.
At the time of this writing, the official Nintendo firmware page says the latest update is still 10.6, but clicking on the “update details” page leads to a changelog mentioning the latest 10.7 update:
Version 10.7.0-32U available via wireless Internet connection includes the following improvements:
Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience
OMG The stability this thing packs is just insane!
This update comes in the context of an exploit allowing people to downgrade a 3DS from 10.6 to 9.2. It is possible this patches the exploit, although we’ll know more in the hours/days to come.
In the meantime, devs of the 3DS scene such as popular hacker smealum advise to not update. That is, if you like homebrews and stuff!
3DS update out ! dont update yet.

Smealum however stated that the update probably doesn’t patch anything major, but as always, wait for people to confirm before updating.

Seems like Nintendo wants to replace Sony for the most game console’s stability updates ever released.
The NATIVE_FIRM wasn’t updated, so the downgrade is still possible as the installation of legit cias in OFW (at least in theory)
I updated my emunand to this and it still works. N3ds using a gateway formatted emunand and reinand to boot. I had no idea 10.7 was a thing.
*** with the sarcasm @ “OMG The stability this thing packs is just insane!”
People always joke about the stability, but if there is a hack entry point, that is a bug and should be fixed, fixing it does improve the security and stability of the device.
Unfortunately for us 🙂
My horses are going to be so jealous with how stable my 3DS is!
Hahahahahahahaha. Pretty good!
Right now, the only thing I care about is nintendo updating the SNES emulator some of the custom chips so we can run games like Super Mario RPG, Star Ocean. Megaman X2/3, Star Fox, Mario Kart etc…
I got a New 3DS XL yesterday right before 10.7 was released. When I got to the step in the installation of A9LH where it said to update the emuNAND to the latest version, I noticed it was 10.7….I went ahead with the A9LH install and it worked perfectly fine. So as far as installing A9LH, its fine. I’ve heard reports of downgrade still being possible, but I didn’t downgrade from 10.x…my system shipped with 9.8
All of the current public exploits still work, as does the downgrader. The advice to not update is precautionary. EmuNAND still works of course, as does this firmware using A9LH.
People should be downgrading to 9.2 anyway, rather than upgrading!
Lol, the irc confirmed yesterday that memchunkhax still exists, literally nothing homebrew related was fixed in this update. They didn’t even update the NATIVE_FIRM. Even the 10.6 payloads work on 10.7. If you ask me, 10.7 = 10.6
I can confirm that I did read that 10.7 is downgradeable
nintendo is out of orders
how long keeps nintendo this up
it’s wide open
thanks smealum en friends
Still the downgrading work on 10.7 ?
