Unofficial Cobra 7.3 Installer for Rebug 4.78.1
A few days ago, a guy from the German PSX-Tools forum named MO3 released an installer which upgrades the Cobra 7.2 payload in Rebug 4.78.1 to the newly Cobra 7.3 one. All this was made possible because Habib released a few days ago the Source Code from the Cobra 7.3 payload at PSX-Place.
As we mentioned here, the new payload improves the loading of PS2 Games so you can now launch your PS2 Games directly via the Disc Icon from the XMB without Controller Sync issues. Cool huh? Developer MO3 also dropped with this release warning (see below), that you shouldn’t use this on a PS3 Version CECH-A to CECH-C.
You should never try to use the Cobra 7.3 Installer on other CFWs or previous Versions of the Rebug CFWs, a brick is not impossible!!!The Cobra 7.3 Installer is ONLY for Rebug Rex 4.78.1 and ONLY for PS3s without native PS2 support.Do NOT use the installer on PS3 versions CECH-A to CECH-C !!!
1. works fine here with Cobra v7.2
2. if something goes wrong during the install, you’ll need a hardware Flasher
COBRA 7.3 Changelog
– fixed wireless sync issue on 4.46++
– fixed issue where going to non-cobra after playing iso would cause ps2 iso reload
– Improved optical disc xmb error of data disc, if hangs, reinsert disc(data disc error was present since 4.46)
– bc and semi-bc ps2 works without cobra, no emu swap needed
– fixed possible bug where games with config would fail since 4.46

Well thats still got , but i guess rebug will release Cobra 7.3 soon for its CFW , thou i personally prefer habib always.
got = good
sry misstyped
Why does the 7.3 changelog show this if there is danger to CECHA through CECHC models?
“bc and semi-bc ps2 works without cobra, no emu swap needed”
Is ReBug (and others) now going to start producing two variants of there CFWs to prevent bricking (if there is such a chance)?
To be true, i don’t think you can’t brick your PS3 with this (even when it’s just a semi-brick which can be fixed trough re-installing the CFW), the warning is too stupid the payload works of course on every PS3 which can run it but the Developer mentioned it.
Now after all this time, we are in 2016. Is there an existing hardware flasher for CECH-3001B models yet? It’s been a long time. I still play my PS2 games with my PS2 but running them in my PS3 could help my change my old TV lol
no and there probably won’t be since there are flashers that work for all other consoles and personally i think the 3k models are garbage anyway
thought you meant the superslims lol my bad but as far as i’m aware there isn’t and won’t be any flashers for that model either for the same reason i gave before
3000s don’t need any special hardware flasher, you can use the same used for downgrading 2000s.
The problem is that you can only (re)flash OFW 3.56+ on them due to metldr2 refusing to boot any older firmware, thus all CFWs are impossible to use as they’re still based on 3.55 internally. Hardware flasher won’t help you overcome metldr2 checks.
So the best thing would be to use Cobra ODE in that case but it won’t add PS2 support to my PS3. Better find an old PS3 that supports it and that is not in YLOD state. lol
Works great on CECH-C !
is it wrong i prefer to play my ps2 games on my pc rather than my ps2 or ps3 ?
