The full announce from Gateway 3DS:
We are back again with another quick update! Here’s what’s new:
* Latest emunand support (10.4) for both o3ds and n3ds
* In-game menu fixed for certain games (Centipede)
* SAV backup and restore added again for CIA games and SaveDataFiler
* L button hex and decimal switch too fast fixed in exact cheat searchWith the new firmware update we would like to STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST UPDATING your sysnand to any version higher than 10.3 (i.e. 10.4 or higher), as we will not be able to support sysnand firmware version 10.4 or higher anytime soon.
Currently there exist homebrew methods to downgrade from 10.3 to 9.2, allowing you to use your Gateway card already.
But the downgrade method is not recommended as it is error prone, dangerous and can lead to bricking.
We would like to provide our users with a more safe method, and this is one of the things we are working on.This means you SHOULD NOT upgrade past 10.3, as you will miss the boat as they say.
What is emuNAND?
emuNAND is basically a way to “dual boot” your 3DS into 2 firmware. an older firmware (such as 9.2) which is the real firmware on your console, and the latest firmware (e.g: 10.4) is a secondary firmware to access the latest official Nintendo features from your older console. EmuNAND is necessary because flashcards do not work on the latest 3DS firmwares.
From the emuNAND author:
This tool can be used to extract the NAND file from a emuNAND SD card and to inject a NAND file into the emuNAND SD card.
The extracted NAND file is a fully working 3DS NAND file and is also flashable to the 3DS.Supported emuNANDs: Gateway and clones like R4i Gold 3DS Deluxe Edition, 3DS Link, Orange 3DS, MT Card
The emuNAND SD gets detected automatically!
To inject a NAND file, the SD card has to already contain an emuNAND partition. What is NOT possible?
This tool does not enable you to magically use the Gateway (and clones) on a non 4.x system version.
You can’t inject games.
You can’t flash the Gateway mode to the 3DS.
You can’t modify the firmware (no region bypass, backups,…).
You can’t extract any keys.
You can’t downgrade your 3DS with this tool. It only modifies the emuNAND on your SD card.
You can’t use a NAND from another 3DS on your 3DS.

In other words, emuNAND lets you use a 10.4 firmware on your 9.2 console, and the 10.4 secondary firmware is now supported for Gateway 3DS owners. It does not let you magically get the Gateway 3DS on a 10.4 console.

Whaaaa… I’m fiiiirst!!!
Emunand’s also working on Reinand for o3ds/n3ds and rxtools for o3ds 🙂
Once I update to the latest Gateway, how can I update my EmuNand to the latest version?
update through the system settings like normal, but make sure you’re on emunand
you are welcome :3 Keep up the good work! 😀
oh.
Well so much for waitinf for rxtools to catch up haha :/
Guess i’ll be running another cfw i guess
Meh, no real reason to own a gateway. I’ll stick with RxTools/Pasta for now.
Are there others out there having problems with RetroArch not working? Using the Latest Gateway, using the CIA Installers, but for some reason, when you run a Core, the Frame Counter goes up, but you can not do anything but Exit the App. Only the much Earlier Builds work like the 8 November Build
N3DS 9.2 FW and EmuNAND
Latest GW
Using the CIA Installers
Tried keeping the RetroArch.cfg File and also deleting it.
Odd thing though: I hvae some from the Older Build Installed and one of the Newer Builds. Older Builds work, newer do not even though they use the same CFG File
A big update to Retroarch just happened to coincide with 10.4 being released so it might not be (all of) 10.4’s fault. I am using the builds from less than a week ago (with GW) fine but I’m on 10.3 emuNAND. I’m sure it will be fixed quickly if it is 10.4 causing it. Otherwise you may need to totally wipe it off your SD card and start anew

Not on 10.4 .
Well I’m still on 4.2 but I would like to auto-boot into the emuNAND.
Again, incorrect. Gateway works all the way up to 10.3 with or without EmuNand. But only insane people would install anything straight to their SysNand. You guys gotta keep up with your fact checking.
You gotta keep up with your fact checking, all cfw’s including gateway, works up to ONLY 9.2 SYSnand (for now), while EMUnand works all the way up to 10.4, so the article is correct and you’re wrong. 😛
Can I install this on my old 3ds firmware 4.3?
the blue card icon isn’t showing up when I try to put it in
