PS4 Remote play PC – unofficial port now lag free and all major bugs fixed, release “soon”
Developer Twisted reported today on his twitter account that his unofficial port of PS4 Remote Play for the PC has made significant progress.
All major bugs are fixed, and there’s virtually no lag in the implementation, as can be seen on a video he posted a few hours ago (see below).
The official version of PS4 Remote Play is limited to a tiny subset of Android devices: Sony XPeria smartphones and tablets. Twisted created an unofficial port of the Sony android app, and his mod enables PS4 Remote Play on most Android devices.
In parallel, Twisted has been working on a complete port of the PS4 Remote Play client for PC. The result is pretty impressive, and his latest video shows that there is virtually no latency when using his PS4 Remote play PC client:
In all practical aspects, this Remote play app for PC will be no different than the one we use for Android (showcased here running on PS4 firmware 3.xx): game compatibility is constrained by the PS4 and this is not going to change with this release. The interface will be compatible with any DirectX compatible input, according to Twisted, although he has yet to figure out a good keyboard shortcut mechanism for the touchpad equivalents.
Twisted just reported that he is down to 0 major bugs, and when asked for a release date, he replied that it would come “soon”
@frwololo soon* 😉

Valve just released the Steam link, a device to let you play your PC on your TV. Twisted is going to soon do the opposite, letting you play your TV console on your PC. How cool is that?

what about ps3 remote play on PC? I know that there is ‘cracked’ remote app from sony’s laptops but it didnt work for me when i tried it last year.
Do you think this will be better than streaming from a PS TV cuz of the high specs PC/laptop.
It will be miles better. I think ps4 can do 1080p 30fps streaming and 720p 60fps streaming to phones so they will be using that.
Nope, PS4 can stream only upto 720p60. 1080p may be too much too handle.
1080p30 is only slightly more frames per second than 720p60. 1080p30 is 62,208,000 pixels per second. 720p60 is 55,296,000, only marginally smaller. Bear in mind also, that the connection is done over LAN, not the entire internet. The difference will be negligible. The real question is if the PS4 itself can maintain those resolutions and framerates, which in some AAA games, it cannot.
EDIT: It appears that the max supported res is only 720p. Well, ignore the rest of the comment.
This is great news since i was limited to remote play on vita now when the battery is low on vita , Laptop is the way to remote play son , i just couldn’t stand the lag on emulating android remote play

easy, just plug your console hdmi into your pc monitor. done
This would let you capture content much easier for people without capture cards /devices.
what about remoteplay server for pc lol ?
pc to psvitatv connection like a remotedesktop :p
I am still waiting for a port of open remote play (ps3) to android.
As I’m not a fan of keyboard and mouse I don’t consider a laptop “remote” enough if I also have to carry around a controller and have to rest it down on something as opposed to carrying it in my hand like the nvidia shield (portable).
Wow, can I use keyb+mouse and 360 joypad too? I wish it can so I can use this program as a pass through method!
How safe is this when using it since it requires connecting to PSN? Will Sony able to ban people for using the unofficial app to remote play the PS4?
I dont think they will be able to tell that your using a cracked app. all remote play does is mirror what is on the ps4. your running everything on the ps4from game to going to psn store and just sending that image over to the app. they werent able to detect the cracked app on android devices so i dont see how this would be different. remote play is just a fancy way to say game casting.
Remote play for Android device would be much better than pc and i can simply hook up to monitor via hdmi, whats the point? seems useless to me.
