PSP Depackager (A tool to decrypt .pkg files on PSP) is released by qwikrazor87
Developer qwikrazor87 released a tool which makes decrypting the official psn pkg files on PSP possible. PSP Depackager can decrypt PSP/PS1 pkg files (no PS3 files). There are PC tools for that, but having a .pkg decrypter on PSP is great.
As the decrypted files will still need a license, they won’t directly work on OFW. You have to use CFW and npdrm_free plugin for that. For PS1 files, PSP Depackager v2 extracts KEYS.BIN file too, so you can boot it via your CFW.
Here is the readme:
This is a homebrew to install PSN PSP pkgs on the PSP.
pkgs should be placed at ms0:/pkg/, if that folder does not exist, then create it.place included homebrew on your PSP.
ms0:/PSP/GAME/PSP depackager/EBOOT.PBPThis homebrew only supports installing PSP retail pkgs and files, PS3/debug pkgs are not supported.
boring info, uses the MagicGate hardware for the AES crypto,
no idea about any benefits/disadvantages with it compared to the kirk engine. Thanks to @ReRepRep for the idea.
Changelog:
v2:
Added KEYS.BIN extraction for PS1 pkgs.
v1:
Initial release
A screenshot of the GUI:
From my test on a 6.60 PSP GO, it decrypted a 210 MB PS1 pkg in 7 minutes, extracted the KEYS.BIN and i could boot into the game without a problem. Thanks to qwikrazor87 for this great homebrew, hope to see more.

Not here to complain but i’m pretty sure @reprep stole the idea from me when i commented on his twitter status asking about the psp pkg installer. lol
That is a pretty big claim. I have this idea for a long time. Not sure the exact time i first posted about this on twitter though.
Can you link me to that mention of yours?
If that is the tweet you mention, lol, it is replied to my tweet about the pkg installer. https://twitter.com/SneakyDevil93/status/656020066434093057
BTW i am not claiming i am genious for thinking about this. Many people probably thought about this much, much before than me. qwikrazor87 coded the homebrew and i have “0” contribution to that, it is all his.
But claiming i stole the idea from you, oh, you are just dreaming.
If that is true i apologize, it just seems that not long after that comment you seem to have suggested it to qwikrazor. maybe saying “stolen” was a bit harsh to say but as i said im not trying to complain or start fights but just the timing makes it seem a little off to me lol
I didn’t suggest it to qwikrazor87 or anything. He said he worked on it and as a kind gesture, he included my nickname in the readme. I didn’t steal anything, or even better there is nothing to steal. I didn’t suggest anyone anything, alright?
That is my exact tweet (the one you replied to and of course it is earlier than your reply.)
“Just wondering, why isn’t there a .pkg installer for PSP?”
I really can’t get how i stole the idea of this tweet from you, as you posted your tweet AFTER my tweet.
Really, stop and think before accusing.
Yeah he did steal it from you…
Perhaps if you wiped your *** regularly, it wouldn’t irritate you so much that you have to come online and act like a buster.
An idea can’t really be stolen if it’s voluntarily suggested, with no intention on the part of the person who came up with it to carry it out. We have contracts for that – if you tell some software company “it would be great if your software added this feature,” you wouldn’t generally then be mad that they stole your idea, since you offered it voluntarily. “Got the idea from me” is cool, but “stole the idea from me” kind of isn’t.
App called PSP Depackager, so called ‘writer’ of article calls it PSP Depacker twice………
Corrected, thanks. It slipped.
Interesting…
It work in tnv,don’t it?
It is meant for PSP, but qwikrazor87 said he can add support for ePSP. https://twitter.com/qwikrazor87/status/656981839140122624
Get the v3, it should work on TNV.
This looks to be awesome.
Is this basically the same thing as “PSN PKG Decryptor & Extractor” except it works internally inside a PSP? This is a cool homebrew, but I’m certain it’s much faster to unpack and decrypt on a PC.
Yeah, you can say that.
Sometimes you don’t have a PC near. Sometimes you don’t have the tools you need. This is an excellent app. Also there are many smaller games you can use that will be about as fast as turning a PC on and finding the package, then decrypting it, finally send thru usb to device. Its nice to have options.
write me a tutorial for vita.
i wanne try plus link to a warez psn link pkg site lol
great work xD
