Game2VHBL for PS Vita: plugin for TN-V lets you run homebrews from VHBL folder
One of the issues of recent PS Vita firmwares is that access to the PSP/GAMES folder (where official games and, incidentally, homebrews, are stored) has been dramatically restricted. It was initially impossible to write to it without first renaming the entire folder, and it recently became impossible to even rename it.
Game2VHBL: fix the limitations of 3.5x firmwares
This all made homebrew installing very inconvenient, however for those of you who have access to the Email hacks on 3.52 and lower, keep in mind that SMOKE has released a tool (psp-installer) to bypass some of these limitations. For those of you who can’t get psp-installer to work (for example if you’re on firmware 3.55!), or are just too worried of the associated risk, Qwikrazor’s release is a pretty good addition to the recently released TN-V for firmwares up to 3.55.
This is a PSP plugin, so all you have to do is the following:
- Copy the prx file into your ms0:/seplugins folder (create the folder if it doesn’t exist)
- Edit ms0:/seplugins/vsh.txt with your favorite text editor and add an entry for this new prx file. Just add one line that says
ms0:/seplugins/game2vhbl.prx 1
Of course the files need to be created on (or copied to) your PS Vita, for example using VitaFTP.
In TN-V, you can enable/disable the plugin through the VSH menu, which you can also access by hitting “select” when in the PSP XMB.
From the readme:
this is a plugin to have the XMB list from /PSP/VHBL/ instead of /PSP/GAME/ in TN-V.
enable in ms0:/seplugins/vsh.txt.
ms0:/seplugins/game2vhbl.prx 1homebrew is searched for in this order:
EBOOT.PBP
FBOOT.PBP
VBOOT.PBP
WMENU.BINexample, if you have both EBOOT.PBP and FBOOT.PBP in a homebrew folder, EBOOT.PBP will be used since it’s searched for first.

Enjoy and please report issues in the comments section below!
Keep in mind that this is not a silver bullet: many homebrews are hardcoded to work within the PSP/GAME folder and will not work 100% correctly in PSP/VHBL, unfortunately.

I’ve got my hands on a 3.15 vita. Should I manually upgrade to 3.18 and wait for some news about the webkit exploit or update to 3.51 and enjoy some games that requires more recent fw?
It’s generally accepted that the webkit exploit is a dead end. Seems there is little interest in it now that Rejuvinate has been released.
Try following The Z’s tutorial on manually updating to 3.18 (if you want TN-X; perfect psx emulation w/sound and Rejuvinate) or 3.51 (if you want Rejuvinate with better clock speed). You can find the tutorial on wololo.net/talk
Ok so when installed the games folder will now be renamed to vhbl? Also will act as the main folder for ps1 and homebrews?
its work for me, but i still prefer ARK .
its not work for me but i still prefer ARK
Yeah ***!!!
even installing the plugin can not copy or write any EBOOT.PBP file folders in my vita, with tri-v 11 My fw is 3:51
I’m on 3.5.5 and I can’t copy eboot.pbp too, just rename EBOOT.PBP to FBOOT.PBP and it should work.
Great! But psone emulator is so sloooow… 🙁
This is just too awesome! Just when we think things can’t get better, something cool comes out. Another day of hacking coming up!
Enabling the program blocks my full psp games from showing up in the games list but disabling it all my games show back up again
Hey guys long time lurker here. I am currently on system firmware 3.15 on my PS Vita Fat. I was disappointed to not be able to play Hotline Miami 2 when it came out but still kept my system at that firmware. Now that a couple other games are out I am looking to upgrade again. So my question is what is the best course of action for using CFW on 3.15. I hear updating to 3.52 may be a bad idea especially since I have the Gladiator Begins files ready to install. Its been a while since I roamed around here so I need help deciding what is the best route to take for firmware 3.15???
Could anyone to me explain where “ms0:/seplugins/vsh.txt” is supposed to go. Is it to go in “PSAVEDATA” and then transferred via QCMA, just looking for some clarity
I can’t write ANY EBOOT.PBP in ms:0 🙁 I’m using Filer or FTP and even when EBOOT is in PSP/SAVEDATA/*EXPLOITFOLDER*/ and I’m trying to move it to anywhere else i’ve got permission denied 🙁
I have the same problem. I can not write any EBOOT.PBP if I rename FBOOT.PBP the homebrews to run but with limitations and error in loadings. MVSPSP the same does not work at all rom.
Hmm mr.sandpaper i think you should be greatful and say so btw its not an issue do you plan on playing 2 games at once? When you need to play psp games disable it when your not wanting and want to play homebrew or ps1 games switch it on thats the whole point of the plugin dont be an ungrateful basstart.
First of all, whether you can work around it or not isn’t the point. Second, he was only asking a question, (or making a statement I suppose) with not even the slightest hint of ungratefulness in his tone, so I think you’re a bit over the line calling him a “basstart”. It is a question I would also like an educated answer to, since it would be nice to have everything accessible without having to reset the VSH every time. If it can’t be done, then that is also fine.
good work but now your backups will not show in tnv unless you turn plugin off still very good plugin
what about opencma and qemu addon ps3cma for pc and ps3 ofw backuprestoremodeLatest.
xD
Cool but ISO’s are not showed anymore LOL
Yeah, I’ve noticed that…I hope they fix that somehow….
I read about some people complaining psone games being slow but I’ve tested here and worked very well without any problem….
No you have to Disable it , if you want to play your ISO/CSO again,
See, the problem is that I can’t get VitaFTP on my Playstation TV (running FW 3.52). I’ve tried downloading it directly from Wololo but I just get redirected back to the main download site after three seconds. Somebody help me, please!
I did manage to download the VitaFTP file (on my Android tablet, weirdly) but now that I’ve got it I have no earthly idea how to use it. I’ve tried to put the INSTALL.ZIP file in the TNV_00000 folder and transfer it using the Content Manager. However, when I go into TN-V and open the Game folder, about a half page of hex code flashes on the screen. Then the progress circle on the bottom right of the screen strobes for an eternity. That ZIP file just will not open!
If you guys have any advice or suggestions, they’d be hugely appreciated. Thanks.
I’m so lost. Where can I find this ms0:/ directory? Is it in the psvita saved data exploit folder on the PC or is in on the actual VITA via the TN-V11 startup menu?
