Tutorial: PS Vita Custom Bubbles for System Softwares 3.5x!
It took me pretty much the whole evening, but after some software crashes, recording fails and other problems, I’ve finally finished a thorough video tutorial for the EML-writer Custom Bubbles.
It is a bit chaotic, and based on Kanade Engel’s Tutorial, but in the end it should do the job. Enjoy!
So far this is only a video tutorial, but if you demand a text tutorial as well, I will take care of one as well (tomorrow, though). Nonetheless, I am going to include what you will need for this.
NotePad++ – A superior editor for text files and others.
Thunderbird – A powerful programm to manage your emails.
PBPUnpacker – The best utility to unpack PBP files.
SQLiteBrowser – This will allow us to edit our database.
QCMA – A custom-made CMA by Codestation. Superior to the default CMA.
PKG Viewer – A Packages utility tool.
Paint.net (optional) – A powerful image editor that supports the DDS-Format.
Custom Bubble Setup files & Writer.eml – Necessary for the Custom Bubbles.
Maybe Winrar, WinZip, 7-Zip or similar ones.
Of course you will need a PS Vita running Firmware 3.52 (or below), an email address and a random PSP game as base game. This base game can be nearly ANY game for the Playstation Portable.

Do you lose the game used to create the custon bubble?
No, the base game needs to be on the system but it remains untouched (aside from recopying it if your license screws up).
The database entry for your bubble is a new one entirely that doesn’t touch the old one.

You can’t.
However if you are on 3.52, you can use VitaUpdateBlocker for the next days (not all the time, just the next day) to go to the PSN and buy a PSP game. If you’re in Europe, there’s Ape Quest Demo which is free, but cannot launch ARK or VHBL, only PSP games (because Ape Quest has been patched). Otherwise I advice you to take the cheaper game you can find, among the games that HADN’T BEEN EXPLOITED BEFORE.

From your name, I guess that you might have a Japanese PSN account. If so, it seems Monster Hunter 3 is a safe choice. If you want a cheap game, check this website for a list of alternatives:

These seem to be US/EU games, but if you can find it on Japanese PSN, it should work also. Good luck!

Take a look if the base game is working, could be a licence problem
Why are you using an exploit.
Its likely it is erroring out because of the 1mb limitation.
Soon as I fly back in from work I’m hooking into this using ys7 as base, provided I can still play it, otherwise I’ll just use this to play silent hill 0rigin then uninstall it again
I can confirm. I failed using UNO, and them bought NUMBLAST (EU) and that worked

How can i do this trick without a psp base game? I can’t access psn store since I’m in 3.52 firmware. My games on ps vita are ragnarok and tom blitz only. haha

I still can’t make a clickable link. I think it’s because I have a PlayStation TV, but converted normal html website links are clickable without formatting. Unless there’s a way to confirm it, I think you should mention the PSTV CANNOT do this.

I still can’t make clickable app.db link. I think it’s because I’m using a PlayStation TV, even though I can click website link emails on it okay. Unless someone can confirm it working, I think you should stress it DOESN’T work on PSTV.
PSTV is a little tricky. If you were on a vita, you could just tap the link on your screen. I think you DO have a clickable link, you just need to click it the correct way for the PSTV.
I can’t remember which button does it (L3? R3? something else?…) but if you play with the controls a bit, you should find a way to get a mouse cursor to appear on screen. Use the mouse cursor to click X on the link 🙂
I tied this both with hackinformers tutorial and this one and for some reson it works when i try to do it for my vita but not my playstation tv i get the this application cannot be used with this system message. Please help

So I get done with everything, I get the custom bubble and when I click on it, it opens up to my splash screen The Vita will show the splash screen for about 3-5 seconds and then go back to the vita screen. Any clues?
I had this when I did everything correctly but used an incompatible base game : UNO.
I switched to NUMBLAST (EU) and it worked fine after that.
Almost worked perfectly. I have 3 foreign PSP game bubbles working and installed, but all PS Vita game splash pages aren’t displaying now (they’re just plain grey – the system pages and PSX/PSP ones work fine though). I assume I have to reset the database, and add the three games into the app.db again?
